Hi, kinda new here, minus the numerous other people's stuff I've seen and admired, and I was wondering if I might ask for some advice? I have a fanfic I am working on, and it involves my fan-Regiment, the 1st Lokarin Shyshock Drop Troops. Their leader is one General Markus Krueger, later appointed Governor-Militant of the planet Titan's Rest, in the Lokarin System. The assist I am looking for is this:

I am trying to make a mini to represent GM Krueger, and I have most of the pieces I think I want to use, but would appreciate some thoughts/advice. Krueger's look is inspired by GM Lukas Alexander, the leader of the IG faction id Dawn of War: Dark Crusade, and has similar dual powerfists. My problem stems from the fact that, minus one hideous powerfist in the Catechan line, there are no left? power fists in the IG minis. I am planning to cut the fists off of two Cadian PF Sergeants, and mounting them on the ends of the L. Commissar's arms, so they fit well with the body, but wonder if anyone else could suggest a better source for that elusive second power fist, rather than me having to try and alter a thumb, so he doesn't have two right hands. I also sort of want to mount a plasma pistol integrate into one, and preferably a flamer to the other, but I won't be crazy, but am not sure how I'll go about that; bits of my fluff can be sacrificed for this first project.

Right now, the best plan I have to get this:

is to follow this:
1 Lord Commissar body - looks very close, has the armoring, the cape, etc, and the bearing of an HQ unit.
  • remove the head, and replace with that of a Cadian Officer w/Power Sword, the one with the cyber-eye, and no hat; that's much like what Krueger/Alexander look like.
  • cut the L Comm's arms at half, and replace with Cadian Officer w/Power Fist's Fist. If no better option comes for matched pair of IG-sized Power Fists, that will have to do, and one PF will be modded to look like opposite hand.
  • perhaps figure out a way to graft on the business chunk of a plasma pistol to a Power Fist. The flamer might be too ambitious.

  • I'm no pro-painter or modder, so this is going to be a bit of a stretch for my starting attempt, but I am confident I can manage something. No matter his difficulty, some of the other bizarre ideas in the group/story would be more difficult, so I'll start with the boss man. Anyone who has some advice, I would very much like to hear it. Thanks.

A good source for IG sized power fists is if the can find the older version of the Butcher of Khardov model from Warmachine.. His gauntlets are the perfect size for IG fists and they're matched.

There is a metal IG commander with a left handed PF.

Have a look on Ebay, there's normally one on there.

There's not though. There's the Catachan fellow and the Cadian guy whose PF is a right handed one. The former is mentioned in the OP as being unsuitable.

If you can find them, the second edition Chaos Marine arms work quite well as Guard-sized powerfists:

I found 1 copy of him, and along with a price tag I didn't like, I'm afraid his Power Fists appear to be even more work for the conversion; work I'm not certain I'd be good enough to do. Thank you, though.

I found them, after a site redirect. They look promising, so i ordered a 4-piece set. Hopefully, they'll do nicely. Thank you very much.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Rambo's bastards to begin with, and I HATE that power fist. Mostly, it would just look weird. Krueger is a Cadian, and so is the one power fist I know will work for him. Catechen power fists look different, and a bit bulkier, to me, so it would not do. Thank you, though.

So, the Zinge mech fists appear to be my bet, for the moment. See what they look like, once they get here, and hopefully, they'll fit nicely. Thanks everyone for your thoughts, and any others would still be fine. Ideas for the gun mounting, or even anything that might look more like the image above; I thought the Lord Commissar was actually pretty accurate, but if anyone else feels differently...

Well, the Zinge Mech Fists arrived. Hopefully, they'll be able to float the bill here. They look pretty good, on initial inspection. Wish me luck.

Well, it has been FOREVER, but I finally got around to attempting this mini. Here he is, Governor-Militant Markus Krueger, Governor and General of the outpost on Titan's Rest, and head of the 1st Lokarin regiment.

One could easily argue he's not much of a custom, but I really wanted to make him. The pics are blurry, but I blame my camera phone for it. For not having lots of prior XP painting 40k minis (he is possibly #7 for "important" minis, not just IG troops, base Marines, and Gaunts), I am rather pleased with the end results. His stat block is a bit silly, so I'll post it later, once I finish the 6E upgrade. Otherwise, he's a nice homage to Lukas Alexander, original image above, and a Human Marneus Calgar, while still holding what i liked about his RPG character block, and place in my on again/off again story. With his stats, he's good in assault, packs some hidden guns (digital weapons), and can be a very effective Leader/Officer.

Thanks for the directions on finding fists; as you can see, I used them, and to decent effect. I might go back, and apply some skull and aquilla decals to the fists, to flavor them up a titch, but if I never do, I wanted to post the images, anyway.

Well, they are still a bit cheesy, but these are the bulk of the stats I made for Krueger, in fitting with 6E rules.

    Governor-Militant Markus Krueger

The man who would become the Governor-Militant of Titan’s Reach, and head of the 1st Lokarin Skyshock regiment began as nothing more than another soldier on Cadia, where he slowly and honestly climbed the ranks to General. It was an off-planet assignment, however, that would change everything for the dogged warrior. Being ordered to assist the Elysian 103rd in their battle against Orks, Krueger’s 1981st Cadian found themselves without their tank and artillery reinforcements they were so accustomed to. So it happened that his troops had to adapt, and acquire the Elysian’s tactics, and as the two forces fought, died, and reinforced each other, they slowly became like a single regiment. Their position was critical, for the Imperial High Command received word that a planet in the Lokarin System, long lost to a standing warp storm, had finally resurfaced, and there was something there that had to be recovered.
Arriving on the planet, the combined forces under General Krueger discovered the remnants of a derelict fortress, and under it, a small Mechanicus manufactorum. Unfortunately, he also found Orks.

Base Commander: Many of Krueger’s battles are fought to defend and hold his base at Titanspire, rather than assaults to break the foes he faces. Krueger was in need of some decals, so now he has them. A little excuse for a last look at what is, otherwise, a finished mini.

Sadly, the camera is no better, but I still like how he turned out. It's a shame that, even as one of my favorite Guard characters, his type is useless. Looks good, though.
