Basically, the question. Are they good or just a toy worth taking if I have (doubtfully) some spare points? If I am planning to take them, they most probably will face Soviet Strelkovy with 5-8 T-34s.

They're poor against armour except light stuff like armoured cars. Against infantry and gun teams they're comparable to 8cm mortars (Sdkfz 251/2), although mortars can also smoke and bombard.

Overall I prefer the mortars.

If you have the points perhaps a small Marder platoon may be a better choice vs. armour and infantry with its better range and AT.

Thanks! I agree that Marders are better, indeed! The reason I was asking was mainly because I've been thinking about PSC 251 D conversion set and their 251/10 command version is beautiful in comparison with BF and especially in comparison with FiB (which is ugly and actually Ausf. C). I already converted 251/2 and I am not very fond of flamers. Stummels also look very good...
Damn, I want those 251/10 D, but not feel like shelling out money just for 1/4 of the box contents

Buy the box, build your 251/10 Ds and then sell the remaining sprues on ebay. Works pretty well. Or add your stummels anyway and play with them. Just because marders are better doesn't mean you can't accomplish anything with the stummels. They will just perform differently is all. I like to take units that more competitive players won't bother with because I like the variation and sometimes the troops made do with what they had available. You don't always have the perfect tools for the job in warfare anyway.
