We're not sure where or how we are misreading this, but if a emperor's champion or a chaplain is attached to a squad of marines who failed a morale check, does the fearless character negate that failure? Or does he retreat with the unit?

If a unit has a single fearless model, then yes, the entire unit 'gains' fearless. Course, the Chump is only fearless whle in HTH, IIRC.

So to get things straight, if I have a chaos sorcerer who is fearless into a unit of vanilla CSM the whole unit wil be fearless as long as the sorc lives?

Sorcerers aren't fearless though
