Here's a chimera heavy Grey Knight Henchmen list with some guard allies - how do you think it would fare in a competitive environment? The idea is that coteaz rides with the multi-melta servitors, using the prescience power to twin link their shots. Even if their chimera moves, they can still put out a decent amount of firepower through twin linked snap shots. Might be pretty good for pinging planes out of the sky too...

Coteaz - 100pts (two divination powers - aiming for the ignoring cover one and definitely taking the primaris one)

Henchmen band - 3x multi melta servitors in chimera with ML and HB - 85
Henchmen Band - 3x meltagun warrior accolytes in chimera with ML and HB - 97
Henchmen Band - 3x meltagun warrior accolytes in chimera with ML and HB - 97
Henchmen Band - 6x Psykers in chimera 115
Henchmen Band - 6x Psykers in chimera 115

Psyfleman Dreadnought - 135
Psyfleman Dreadnought - 135

Allied Guard:

Company Command Squad - 2x meltaguns in chimera with ML and HB - 125
Veteran Squad - 3x Grenade launchers + Autocannon in chimera with ML and HB - 150
Vendetta Gunship - 130
Griffon Mortar - 75 (could swap for a hydra - is a lone one worth it though?)

What changes would people make? There's a lot of options between the guard codex and different henchmen band configurations!

would appreciate some feedbak on coteaz's unit - would it be effective as an accurate multi - melta bunker with twin linked shots?

A little thing that may help out is simply having a few of the chimeras have hull flamers. You have no issues with armour really but you don't have much to deal with hoards so why not grab some free flamers just in case.

It's probably just me, but I've always had awful luck with heavy flamer chimeras. I usually use one on my company command squad's chimera and to date it has never killed anything (only been fired once I think!) and there have been many, many situations where another heavy bolter could have fired. Call it personal preferance to stick with the heavy bolters

I agree hordes might be a problem, but I was hoping the 7 multilasers, 7 HBs and 3 large blasts should hopefully be enough to provide the shots to handle orks etc. Do you reckon I should change to flamers anyway?

To be honest I find the flamers help a tonne and have proven themselves time and again. But I agree they can be a personal preference. Perhaps try out a few only and see what comes of it. If youfind them useful in a pinch it may change your mind. Maybe do a 75% 25% sort of thing to keep your options open.
