Dire Wolves x5 (Doom Wolf) -- 50
Skeleton Warriors x30 (FC, HW&S) -- 180
Skeleton Warriors x30 (FC, HW&S) -- 180
Grave Guard x24 (FC, Banner of the Barrows, HW&S) -- 344

Vampire goes into Grave Guard to make them 5x5. Skeletons are arranged in 6 ranks of 5.

This list would probably do ok. Personally I prefer using necromancers instead of vampires in games of 1000 points or less and put them in a bunker of 20 zombies to keep him relatively safe. At 1000 points you can afford a level 4 necromancer or 2 level 2 necromancers which will be much better for magic. The unit of zombies will grow in size due to invocation of nahek and if you give a necromancer the master of the dead upgrade the same will happen to your skeleton warriors. Grave guard should do ok by themselves especially with banner of the barrows.

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

I'm buying mantic models actually, so buying hordes of skeletons/zombies isn't a problem.

Is fear incarnate any good without screaming banner? Id go with dark majesty or beguile. I think ur right in choosing vamp. I go vamp at every point level. Zombies suck. Dont buy any of them. Skeles and ghouls all the way
