dude. I would hate to paint the back the way you did but it is kinda awesome looking. The base is as well. What were you going for with the back? Cause I thought Matrix immediately.

Umm good question, I was going for a digital pattern which yeah sort of blends to the matrix I figured it was instantly characterful.

Basically, I painted the pattern for the eye and decided it didn't come through enough but liked the pattern and I was just about finishing the NMM attempt on the top of the chassis so I figured what the hell I'll try the pattern going down the back and have it as a digital underside as the vulnerable part of the chitin, sort of blended as a phase shifter in my mind.

The green was actually quicker than the grey on the back!

Right, well you succeeded in the digital. well done overall.
and how in the world did the grey take longer?

Well, the grey had 2-3 coats to get a flat texture and then the blending on top leading up to the lighting effects.

The green is just dark angels green base took about a minute.. then stroking a camo green down in the pattern and then going over in select places with a 50% skull white 50% camo green.

Voila digital pattern.

ahh I see. Well just let me write that down and done. Sounds easy but straight lines elude me. So is the digital thing going to be used on future models?

Umm yeah, I have 10 wraiths to do, and I think I'll convert the two destroyer Lords to have the pattern as well, as they'll have wraith tails instead of destroyer chassis's.

But I'm out of town for a few days so need to pick up the rest of my wraiths I'll see if I can post the other 9 when they are done!

Trick with straight lines is to have as little paint on the brush as possible and don't be afraid of touching up afterwards!
