I am Looking at experimenting with a Deathwing armies With some blood angels allies mainly death company. And criticism or comments would be greatly appreciated

i am shooting for a hard hitting unit like the death company with a strong backing from the death wing.. on paper it sounds like this army would excell in closr combat but i am wondering what the general Dakka opinion is.

Storm bolters are not brilliant for deathwing terminators.

You have very little models and are not that great at killing things.
Getting deathwing terminators into close combat is actually really tricky. SS/TH tend not to excel in close combat, good cc units can get the assault on them and get a good number of attacks and kills before the TH swing back.

I think terminators may be all you need for scoring purposes. However, I would like to see some more shooting and maybe some antiflyer in there too.

The other idea is to deathwing assault and drop pod. In order to alpha strike heavily.

The plan was to alpha assault everything except for the storm bolter termies and have the jump pack death company charge across the table.

To try to get in assault second turn. Then with the storm bolter termies I would camp objectives

I would DP the DC.

OK fitting a drop pod in would be easy enough cause i could just drop the jump packs. Though to be honest do we think I would have a chance with this army in a tournament setting.

I am unsure how it would work actually. I think it will have issue with faster armies or flyers, so depending on your local meta it could do okay. Just low troop count for lots of points.

That is also what has me worried, but on paper it sounds like a hard hitting monster. I guess I'll have to run a few tests..

Just as an example, if you took 6 lots of terminators and 3 typhoons, i feel you would be a hard match for most armies. Even if the enemy have a lot of plasma you are still hard to shift off objectives.

This is the typical 5th edition list. Though I felt it lacked quite a bit.

The armies you would fear would be flyers and armies that happen to not fear missiles.

So instead of 3 typhoons and a squad of terminators you brought death company and chaplain. This doesn't tackle the problem at hand.

Honour guard with 4 plasma guns and jump packs.
scouts with sniper rifles and camo cloaks.
melta wielding assault marines.
Librarian with SS/TH.
ADL with quad gun.

This combo would fill the gap. It has all the fire power you would like and the antiflyer, whilst fitting in with the hard to kill infantry motif.

Drop pods for an alpha strike would look something ike:
Librarian with SS/TH.
honour guard 4 plasmas drop pod
sternguard with some combimeltas drop pod.
sniper scouts with homer
ADL with quad gun.

This list as a slightly different flavor than the previous but with the same concept deep striking the terminators, while infiltrating the scouts and shrike with the assault marines. The thunder fire and ADL will be for cover support and this gives my entire army fleet. Though I am still worried about flyers. For a 2000 point army I would add some drop podding stern guard or dreads

also when do we start using flakk missiles cause they are anti flyer i believe. Can any missile launcher use these shots?

Are you trying to build a themed army? A fun army? A competitive army?

Death wing is pretty rock hard on its own so not sure adding in the allies really does much more then more temies would do

I'm kind of just trying to do something with the models I have to be honest i dont mind buying more, but I was told Deathwing isn't great for hordes or flying. To combat the flying I figured the ADL would help and the Thunderfire cannons are for the Hordes but Dark Angels don't have access to the Thunderfire cannon.

What would you recommend as a take all comers Deathwing list should I add speeders, or just all terminators.
