Subject: Looking for a game / noobs in the Quad Cities area (IL/IA border)

Hey everyone! I'm new to actually playing 40K (as in, never played a game) and I am looking for a group that doesn't mind a total noob amongst them.
I like in Moline, IL and I cannot find anyone that plays. The nearby store (have fun collectables) has some 40K stuff (about 10 boxes of DE junk and 1 Fantasy Orc box) and in my talks with the owner it appears the native players have gone AWOL.
I've seen a tournament post from a year or two ago and I tried to look up the Adeptus QC club but I can't find anything recent at all.
Just looking for someone to learn the game with and maybe hit up a few conventions. Surely in an area of 200k people there's got to be a chill group of gamers out there.
PM if any light to shed!

I live in PV, and work in Davenport. I've never actually played at a store, or anywhere other then at one of my friends houses, but I'd be game. I should mention I'm actually a terrible player, also.

I occasionally game in Galesburg at "Alternate Realities". They typically play on Sunday between noon-ish and 5:00pm. The folks there are willing to teach prospective players and games are pretty casual. There are a couple Hardcore gamers there if you're interested. The address can be found under "About us". The average group size at AR is about 5-6 40k players. As a bit of warning if you do head this way on 150 , Main Street between Henderson Street and Academy Street is closed as an overpass is being built. (At least it was closed last time I went through).

I've also played in Peoria at Just For Fun (also on Sundays). Same atmosphere as Alternate Realities really but with a couple more people. Only problem is the drive will take a bit longer from your location . The address is again found under "About us". Average group size is around 6-8 40k players.

Warning From Magnus? Not Listening!
|
I actually just moved to Galesburg (freshman at Knox). I was wondering if there were any players around here, or if I'd just have to shelve my armies till I got back home to Cincy.
So Sunday from 12-5 is the biggest time? Are there any other times that are popular? Also what are the armies of everyone?
(Sorry for all the questions. I took a break from a paper and looked on here on the off chance I'd find another person close by. I'm glad I did!)
