Cadian 306th “Whitehelms”


Regiment Founding
The Cadian 306th regiment was founded in 989.M40, as a result of a chaos insertion and desecration of the cities Kasr. Knowing that this Kasr was a vital strategic asset, the City raised a Guard regiment specifically made to defend the city and its invaluable importance to the defense against the eye of terror. Under careful watch of a Lord Commissar, the regiment was formed using a large amount of Cadian surplus Whitesheild companies.

Made of Dogs
The fact that the regiment was completely formed from inexperienced troops and a handful of Imperial officers, and to protect such a vital location, outraged the public and the Administratum. With no available imperial guard units to spare, the regiment was left to train throughout the city as defenders and snipers. This made the regiment renowned urban warfare experts. Over a decade the Whitesheild showed their worth to the city and the Imperium though many campaigns on and near Cadia. The 306th easily and efficiently captured and held cities until new reinforcement. The Whitesheilds soon became full guardsmen and some to renowned Kasrkin, but the men decided to keep their white striped helms. This symbolized the regiment’s beginnings and its long underdog story.

Regiment colors
The Men of the 306th wear grey fatigues, due to their urban preference. Their flak armor is blue to symbolize the youth their regiment was made of, and distance to represent their revered urban snipers. Unlike most regiments, when a Whitesheild becomes a full guardsmen they keep their white strip on their helm. This has given the regiment the unofficial name the 306th “Whitehelms”. Some officers have caught their men calling the 306th “sciptors”, a play on conscripts. The regiment’s conscripts have an additional stripe on their left shoulder to further differentiate.

Mixed Tactics
The 306th is formed into 12 companies. A Hardened infantry company, a support infantry company and a conscript training company are at its heart. The regiment also has a small company of Kasrkin. Due to the difference between the companies this regiment is almost never seen in its correct formation; except during a parade at the regiment’s Kasr. The regiment gives each company command the units it needs to get its specific job done, from defense to head-on assault.

Fist of the 306th
The regiment’s first company is mostly made of hardened soldiers and veterans from the 306th founding. These men have seen everything from chaos daemons to horrific dark eldar death camps. These men are known for charging into the fray with no concern for their own live, but nevertheless are unmovable form their fortifications. Every officer in this company boasts a power fist and hardened close combat veterans.

Regiment Size
The Whitehelm is made up of 12 companies when at its full strength. 9 companies are standard 5 platoons of 65 men. The three other companies have about half as many men. All together the regiment contains over 3600 men. Some notable companies are the 1st, 3rd, 7th and 12th. First Company "Fists of the 306th" are the regiments most hardened troops and boasts the regiments well known Veterans lodge. The 3rd Company "Boom Bringers", contains many heavy weapon teams and some artillery lines. The 7th Company is a very legendary company and has some of Cadia’s best and most sought after sniper teams. The 12th Company is known for its large amount conscripts and less experienced troops. This Company is a training company and many units from other Imperial regiments use this company to train in urban combat. It is said that a tour with the "sciptors" will increase a guardsmen life expectancy by 10 days; which in the guard is everything. The regiment is never seen in full strength because other regiments usually requisition men from the 306 to protect or capture vital urban objectives. The full company has only served together twice. First at its formation, and again during the 13th black crusade in 999.M40 were the regiment was given the objective to seize and control a captured major imperial city. The regiment lost many men to the forces of chaos but succeeded in its mission.

Notable Battles of the 306th

990. M40
The 306th is engaged on the nearby planet of Volscar against a chaos revolt in the city of Hasor. With no help available and half of the regiments forces engaged around and on Cadia, only 6 companies are left to fight in the soul stormed city streets. Major Atlas, of the 1st, set up a base in the cities formidable Manufactorum district. The some 1500 men hold the Manufactorum Kordor for 4 weeks against unrelenting chaos traitors and a summoned contingent of blood letters. On the 5th week, and after losing over 1000 men, reinforcements arrived. 10 companies of the 114th Cadian mechanized infantry. With combined forces the vile traitor rebels are pushed back and their leader, a possessed governor, slain by Major Atlas with one blow of the power fist. The rebellion is crushed.

992. M40
Under the supreme command of Ursaskar Creed, Imperial guard forces, and 7th company of the Whitehelms crush the raid by the eldar craftworld Ulthwe on Aurnet. The snipers of the 7th are used take out many strategic high profile eldar targets during the campaign. After The conflict on Aurnet, the regiment’s snipers are very sought after by other commanders. This battle marks the point when the 306th is recognized as a legitimate fighting force on Cadia.

3789999. M40
The 306th sends 5 companies, including the 7th, to aid Lord Marshal Graf Harazahn on Vostroya to crush the Eldar at the Gates of Balcarhsa. The snipers felt very at home in the ruined cities of Vostroya. Some reports even say that eldar commanders were forbade from leaving their Headquarters due to high stress of sniper fire.

9983999. M40
The 5th and 9th companies of the 306th are sent to Excovar, to aid the Cadian 122nd Armored Regiment counter the ork Waaagh! Bigtoof. The snipers of the 6th company are given the objective of tracking and killing the Ork Warlord Bigtoof. This Conflict is Still Going on Currently
