"All I ever wanted was the truth. Remember those words as you read the ones that follow. I never set out to topple my father's kingdom of lies from a sense of misplaced pride. I never wanted to bleed the species to its marrow, reaving half the galaxy clean of human life in this bitter crusade. I never desired any of this, though I know the reasons for which it must be done. But all I ever wanted was the truth."
— Opening Lines of the "Book of Lorgar", First Canticle of Chaos

Does anyone else want a Book of Lorgar releases?

This book would not be unlike Liber Chaotica. Now some people on some forums have said

Yes, but the Liber Chaotica didn't have "to summon a Bloodletter, perform 'x'. To gain the favour of the Dark Gods, you should do 'y', 'r', and 'z'." A proper Book of Lorgar would have to deal with summoning the daemons, how to bind them to your will, everything people associate with Satanic rituals. That sort of stuff was kept well clear of in the Liber, and for good reason. I don't think parents would take kindly to a company selling a book to their kid on how to summon naked daemon-women, or any of the other daemons for that matter.

I find that hilariously dumb (albeit others have reminded us that Black Dog/white wolf did just that thing) -namely because it doesnt need any of that stuff (and when did satanism have a monopoly of daemon summoning?). Basically, what I would be looking for is a good look at chaos from the perspective of chaos rather than an inquisitor or some such imperial investigator. Basically detailing

* The Fall
* The Acceptance of Chaos
* What the "Truths" of Chaos actually are
* Some chaos rituals -now REALIZE Black Crusade core book did JUST that thing. It tells you how to summon a daemonette, bloodletter, etc. It doesnt go all into "mumbo-jumbo" level of fluff (OOooOOOh iz thiz real majix?!) but DOES describe the ritual setting and appropriate sacrifices, as well as the game mechanics of success or failure. (I have a feeling though that the Neo-Liber-Chaotica begining with Tome of Fate for Black Crusade will give us more chaos rituals) That's more than good enough.

Book should be hardcover. Now Horus copy was bound in the flesh of loyalist marines, Fabius Bile's in living flesh, and Perturabo's in steel -I have a great love for tomecraft, and I think a nice looking book is in order.

In my opinion it would wind up like when various authors have tried to write Lovecraft's Necronomicon.

Its better to just get hints of the content then to see the whole thing in plain text.

Now if they printed a sourcebook just about chaos in general and called it the book of lorgar (dropping the pretence of it actually being said boo) I would go for that.

I don't think you could do the Book of Lorgar for the comments the person on the other forum pointed out. What you seem to be suggesting more would be a autobiography of Lorgar, much like Curzes 'The Dark', which could, just about, be possible to write.

There's also a lot of sermons and psalms, so quite a lot of boring stuff.

All in all, The Book of Lorgar would not be a wholesome read in my opinion.

Exactly. This could apply even the Horus Heresy itself. Once you dispel the mystery, the reality is never as cool as you imagined it.

Fluff for the Fluff God!

perhaps if they did it as a sort 'best bits' edition of the book of lorgar, with qoutes and interseting verses, like a standerd line chaos marines or a cultists version of the book. Not the entire thing, but something that would be all a basic chaos worshiper would need.

it woud be quite cool though. i'd want mine to look like it's bound in Ultra-smurf skin.

Eating Michael Douglas to know what its like to get some action from Catherine Zeta Jones probably wouldn't work

They could do a chaos version of the Imperial Guardsmans Uplifiting Primer.....which is essentially what Chaos Emperor is describing. Quotes, phrases, sayings, and sermons that deal with chaos in utterly ridiculous, flamboyant, and over the top ways.

Isn't the book of Lorgar also a few hundred volumes long too? Good luck writing that out.

Concise edition. Or maybe its sort of like a magazine supplement.
First edition is cheap and you get a ring binder made of flayed human skin, and every subsequent weeks cost more and you collect your book week by week, 1 page at a time.

Back when I was just a little nerdling, I carried around a paperback Necronomicon... amazing that I matured at all, considering... whodathunkit?!

Sounds good so far, but does it come with added bonuses if you pay by direct debit and get it sent to your house? A daemon summoning kit with delivery 2, a randomly selected signed picture of a fallen Primarch with delivery 3, a guide to tell the difference between Alpharius and Omegon with delivery 4?
