I have tried a load of times but have barely been able to scratch the gitz. I've tried large quantities of lootas and PK nobs but nothing has really worked. The PK's are probably my best bet but last time i played with them the dread knight won assault and the nobs ran and got cut down . what does dakka recommend?

As a Grey Knight player, and with experience with Dreadknights, I'd honestly say that volume of fire brings down the beast.

With 6th ed in swing, anything in terminator armour or equivalent has become very stubborn to move in assault.

99% of the time I lose a D.K. due to being forced to make something stupid like 20 2+ saves with it, remember all it is is a 4 man terminator squad wounds wise, with less attacks and tbh, not that much more punch if you kit terminators out right.

The real trouble arises when your opponent pays for their shunt ability and out flanks you, but even still, it's one 4 wound terminator on its own, and so big it's hard not to get LoS.

Good luck.

yeah when I use lootas he shunts 2 dread knights with heavy incinerators and burns my lootas which isn't much fun for my dakka. As I said before I think the PK are the best bet but as you stated there not exactly easy to take down in assault.

In that situation, have your Lootas backed up by a close combat orientated unit, force him to think twice about shunting next to you, as he will lose his ability to assault that turn.

Or you could be really nasty and back them up with a tar-pit unit that will hold atleast 1 DK for 2-3 turns, as they only have 3 attacks unless they charge (4 with 2x doom fist).

Worst case scenario then is he sends his second DK into the assault, but that's a bonus for you really, as you've lost a tar-pit unit but he's lost 2 turns of bouncing round the board.

With 2x DK you must be playing at around 2000 points, with Heavincinerators and personal teleporters, he's running them at a combined price of around 450 points.

If you cannot effectively destroy them, shut them down by forcing him into 2-3 rounds of close combat, nobody wants 450 points worth of badass monstrous creatures stuck in one place trying to off the tar-pit that's stopping them from doing what they're meant to do, which is put pressure on your army.

I haven't used my ladz against a GK player yet.

I have some ideas?

1. What do you think of bubble wrapping the lootas with full slugga squads (30 plus PK Nob).

2. What do you think about splitting the lootas up where he can't target all three. If your counter units are <450pts (so it seems) then you win the escalation scenerio. That's 30 lootas.

3. What about scouting suicide units (koptas with TLRL) but keeping them in your back field?

4. Airpower

5. Aeigis Defense with quad gun. He has to take a terrain test to get into CC and you may get some good shots off.

6. Put the lootas in a BW and let them take snap shots.
15 lootas = 225. BW w/Rolla, BS, Kannon = 130. You still win escaltaion and and deal out S10 rolla. He pops the wagon. You get to energency disembark (on the far side so he cant assault and then fire out with remaining lootas. While the calvary runs back to the backfield.

Just some random thoughts.

What about a shock attack gun? unreliable strength and all but its ap2. Kustom Mega Blasters too. Forcing a 5+inv makes their saves unreliable of a sort

Yeah i've been looking at a dakka jet and nob biker army. I like the sound of the shock attack gun its quite an orky weapon and as you said jaymez its ap2 which is always good. i like the BW idea last time I did the battle wagon blitz he just started to pop them on rear and side armour but i'll have to try the rolla

The roller will no good against the dread knight as it is ap_. Unless he decides to death and glory.

Well the answer used to more boyz. He squashes 3 boyz per turn, whilst the nob takes off a wound a turn.
Stupid challenges.

Nobs get squashed too easily as well.

I would have to say tarpit him with boyz, then concentrate on his other units. If you can not efficiently take him down, shoot at something else. It would be a waste of a target for lootas.
