Hello, you're my new favorite person. I LOVE this kind of stuff, and I don't think I've ever actually seen the Genestealer Hybrids painted up before! The retro scheme and painting style is really lovely, and the caution stripes on the powerfists are a fantastic touch. Could we get some closeups of the Terminators et al? I'd love to see some more pictures!

As a fond owner of the Space Crusade game, you did those Old School minis just right! I especially like the Genestealer hybrids.
Picked up a few of those on eBay a couple of years back. Sure wish GW would reissue them again.;(

So older genestealers used to wield weapons of the imperium? That is strange. You did an excellent job painting these figures. Everything looks clean, crisp and adheres to that classic 1st-2nd edition look and paint style. These have to be worth some money, real nice work!

Those are hybrids, not purestrains, the more human they were the better they were with technology. It's pretty cool fluff if you are interested, and was a narrative cornerstone of te universe in 1st and 2nd Ed -

interesting. I wonder why GW didnt stick with that background...it seems to be consistent with the organic bioweapons and evolutionary aspects of the nids. Sounds like more thought was given to them back then rather than making a generalization of nids being 'bugs.'

I'm one of those who miss those old games, but as i used to irritate other people on a different site than this, with my rants in that direction, i won't do it here ... if i can avoid it.

However, skipping the genestealer hybrids from that time, was really put in as part of the storyline, even though the real reason was that they were streamlining the armies (at that time Imperial Guard could even include Beastmen(from the Fantasy range, yes), for instance).

The story back then, was that the genestealers and the genestealer hybrids(the ones in the picture) was controlled by a Genestealer Patriarc, that had psycic powers in addition to a massive combat capability.
Thing is, when that "Patriarc'"s influence had grown strong enough, he essentially called on the Tyranid Fleet.

Then, when the hybrids were removed ... and the Patriarc too, the story followed, that all the hybrids, and often the patriarc too, were practically eaten once the Tyranid fleet arrived, since they had surved their purpose: to weaken the planet's defences.

The classic stuff is awesome. Very well done. Makes me yearn for 1992. My bro and i just dug out our GENESTEALER expansion box to the original SPACE HULK from our folks storage and are debating painting it all up. Hard to match your work, however. Great show. Cheers.
