So, i have grown bored with painting everything grey/silver/ or red...I have come into about a 4x6 table worth of space marine stuff. I have more then enough bits to pretty much make whatever i want. I was thinking of testing my painting and doing a Lamenters army. Yellow isn't a problem to paint, i just want the correct tone...so... Which yellow would you guys use? Also..are there any decal sheets out there, or am i going to have to print my own? Thanks in advance for any help given.

i use golden yellow with a drop of vomit brown and bleached bone (4/1/1) and it gets really close!

For consistency and easy; I like Vallejo's yellows over a yellow ochre base (something like GW's Tausept Ochre).
Flat Yellow, Light Yellow and extreme highlights with Ice Yellow. Those cut out a hell of a lot of mixing, and speed the process immensely.

You're going to need to paint the checks by hand.

Whilst it is mathematically possible to design a decal that will map the checks onto the pad, it has to be cut in a horribly complex and precise way, and then it has to be applied perfectly. Every time. The freehand is going to be much less hassle.

By the time you've done your first squad you'll be damn good at freehanding checks. :-)

Hey, thanks for all the info guys. Freehanding checks is actually quiet easy to me as i did my buddies orks 247+ infantry+ vehicals, So checks are no problem. I will have to find some spare shoulder pads and work out the heart itself. I found some decals i can print out on warseerer, now i just need to find the correct paper/figure out how to do that lol
