Subject: A question about foam (for carrying cases)

Dear Dakkaites,
A few weeks ago, I attended a small local tourney where I ended with a fairly good standing (I believe I came in 3rd place). As part of the list of prizes I could select from, I chose a Battlefoam 432 Pack. This was a no-brainer for me, as I've been using a GW small suitcase and a large toolbox for years now, and my models are beginning to suffer from getting banged around as a result. The Battlefoam case not only lets me fit everything I need into one case, but I also looks secure enough that my models will be safe.
The only problem, however, is that it doesnt have any foam. My question is: would you all recommend I get the Battlefoam-specific foam trays, or are there good cost-effective options available to me? (Ie, foam from a local home hardware store?) Note that I do want to consider and evaluate any good cost-effective measures before I plunk down for Battlefoam foam, which I know will leave an impression, money-wise (I believe their average tray is what, $25? I don't deny that it is very good quality, but still...)

You might want to get a custom tray the the fanciest models, the rest will be fine in home made trays.

Jump on their website, and look for a selection of laser cut trays that will fit all your stuff.
Bare in mind that while pluck foam can be customised for your models, it'll never be as good a fit or as space efficient as their laser cut trays.
Shipping will get you, but it's awesome stuff.

So in other words, there are no real cost-effective alternatives?

Batlefoam has gone out of their way to make their tray sizes unique to themselves. If you don't want to purchase their trays (either from them or a local FLGS), then you have to make your own.
There is no 3rd party tray maker that I know of that duplicates their length and width.
