AC Moore and Michaels have little wooden trays. Pick a pretty one. I saw one in particular that had molding along the edges of the opening that was quite appealing.

Another idea would be a picture frame:


For the tray, drop in a sheet of styrofoam. Otherwise, go nuts with the terrain!
