Hi all,

I've got a tournament coming up soon. Rules include 130 pts terrain, but NO allies. I was going to take Space Wolves, but know that there will be many shameless folks maxing their flyers.

At present I'm at a loss as to how I'll deal with flyers, especially flyer heavy DE and IG lists. Maybe I should just take a different army? Any useful advice welcome!

Long time lurker, 1st time poster.

If you're given 130 pts of terrain, taking an Aegis Line with Quad Gun is a no-brainer. You should honestly be fine against fliers provided you're building "traditional" Space Wolves.

Lots of Long Fangs with MLs (Sprinkle in some Lascannons for flavor), Grey Hunters with plasma Guns (Only 160 pts for 2 plasma guns and 10 dudes in power armor with counter attack and 2 ccw, yes please). Add Razorbacks with either LasPlas or vanilla Heavy Bolter.

Flyer spam is NOT as scary as people make it out to be. The paragon of "omg my face is melting" flyers, the Doom Scythe, kills one guy a turn if you go to ground behind an aegis defense line (assuming 6 hits).

Camp on the objectives (back of your base 1.5" from the objective), go to ground behind aegis lines (2+ Saves, you're snap firing anyway), and prepare for his mad scramble to shift your squads off of an objective starting on turn 5 (neither Guard or Necrons, the main Air Force armies, are particularly good at punting you off objectives once you're on it) Remember, he controls the skies, but has given you total control of the ground.

In kill point missions, you're kinda screwed. Turtle up and take line breaker and first blood by focusing one down. Play for the win, not the kills.

A psyker with the long fangs with re-roll to hit as well as dakka dreadnoughts will be good.

If you are conserned with then having a strong longranged game the first turn can be really good as he will have points in reserves = less points that can shoot back. If you can manadge a good first turn of casualaties on his side then you will have an upperhand when the flyers turn up. Especialy a 600 point stormraven is outragius. The more point in reserve for your oponent, the better your ranged guns will be.

Yeah, Prescience + Long Fangs = happy Space Wolves player. In addition, take the Quad Gun and maybe put a small squad of Grey Hunters on it to fire it. I imagine Assault Cannon Razorbacks would be handy too.

It kinda sucks though how much the game changed because GW boosted flyers but forgot about defending against them...

Razorbacks. They are good anyway but happen to be all right at hitting flyers.
Rifledreads.
ADL with quadgun.

That is about it in terms of reasonable antiflyer.
The issue with longfangs is that they will be better targeting other units probably.

Hope in the near future you will get flakk missiles.

They help space wolves by making it so that they can get up to 4 castings of super guide since rune priests only need to get different powers when bought. Nothing about when you pick on the lores. Have 3 of them running prescience with 3 long fang squads. Combine this with either a icarus lascannon or quadgun and you got some good anti flyer.

Or you could jack your opponents quad gun and shoot down both of his fliers as my opponent did to me in my game tonight -_-

People who stopped buying GW but wont stop bitching about it are the vegans of warhammer
