I was going for a clever pun by combining the strip club saying of "making it rain" with "trickle down"

Can't sell booze in a strip club in Tampa? Man I can't think of anything as depressing as being sober in a strip club.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Not sure how Tampa works, but Strip Clubs in Houston that can't sell booze are Bring Your Own Beer (BYOB) establishments that allow full nudity. Clubs in Houston that sell beer are topless, only.

The more alcohol they sell, the less clothes the strippers can take off...

Well, hopefully we can all ride this rising tide upon boats then....boats made out of balsa wood and match sticks.

Not a shcok, but Repub and Democratic conventions are GREAT for the local "adult entertainment" industry.

I'm not even sure anyone else gets an economic boost with these types of events.

I think the distance laws are way weirder than the booze laws. Here in MN, bars close at 2 - I can get tanked, then go to the strip clubs that are open til 5 specifically because they don't serve booze.

Now requiring a six foot distance between me and the dancer - feth, that's ridiculous.

Then, it's party in the "East Side" in Illinois...

But your tanked. Do you want to do something silly with the stripper and have Elmer the Thud Bouncer throw you out

Different ways. I worked at two strip clubs just out of college, in two different states, because I thought it would be an awesome job. (Side note: it's not.) The club I bartended/bounced at in Missouri was full nudity/no booze, and had a standing $100 stage fee for the dancers - if they were working, they owed the club $100, regardless of how much - or how little - they made. They also charged a $20 cover, and took half of a dancer's lapdance earnings. There were also some nasty little fees for the dancers: a $100 'no show' fee if they didn't show for a scheduled shift, a $350 'rehiring' fee if they quit/were fired and wanted to come back, etc.

Yes, that is actually the normal plan, otherwise I'd spend too much money.

Wow, that's fethed up. Thanks for the info, by the way.

fethed up describes much about the working life in those establishments. I've never encountered another job where I was convinced that the employer, the employees, and the customers were all equally worthless.

Friend of mine worked a club in Michigan that had a similar system. She still made a lot of cash, but yeah she basically had to pay the club for the right to work there. It was pretty messed up.

I've known a few dancers and one or two owners, and none of them operated that way, thank goodness. Strippers generally had to share with the waitresses and bar staff, but kept their earnings, the clubs just took a cover and over charged for drinks. I think a private dance room (or VIP or Champagne Room) had a separate cost that went to the house, though it may have been split between the dancer and the establishment.

Well, they described the system used for places that didn't allow drinks.

Who cares, I'd love to know more of the inside secrets of the strip club industry. MOAR DIRT, SEAWARD!

Most strippers were sexually abused at some point: fact, or urban legend?

Dunno, I delved into the personal histories of my coworkers back then about as much as I do now, which is not at all. I can say that most of the ones I worked with were pretty terrible people, whatever their origin may have been.
