GEEK NATION TOURS RELEASES ITS FIRST ARTISAN TOUR - BLACK LIBRARY WEEKENDER AND LITERARY SITES TOUR
Ever wanted to talk to an author about how they got started? Would you love to talk to a professional about writing novels and how to pitch them? Love Black Library fiction? Well Geek Nation Tours is headed off to the Black Library Weekender in Nottingham! This year’s event is the biggest ever and the list of authors is nothing short of huge – and huge is good... Here is the list: James Swallow, Graham McNeill, Dan Abnett, Sarah Cawkwell, Josh Reynolds, C Z Dunn, Andy Smillie, Nick Kyme, John French, George Mann, William King, C.L. Werner, Andy Chambers, Jon Sullivan, Gav Thorpe, Sandy Mitchell, Rob Sanders, and Aaron Dembski- Bowden. You will have access to all these authors as well as loads of seminars, new releases, book signings, panel shows and tonnes more.
But you won’t always have your nose in a book. We will be exploring a bit of England too. This is the first of GNT’s Exclusive Artisan Tours and we will be focusing on a Literary Theme throughout the trip. We will land in London and explore cool bookstores like Atlantis Bookshop,”London’s oldest Independent Occult Booksellers since 1922” to Gosh! Comics. While we walk from bookstore to bookstore we will make stops at fictional locations like the university from Day of the Triffids, Number 6’s flat from The Prisoner and Charing Cross Hotel from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes to name but a few.
Not enough? We will be headed to Woking where we will not only see H.G Well’s house but also to Horsell Common, the site where the Martians landed in War of the Worlds. Are you a fan of Tolkien? Well, after War of the Worlds we will have a bit of Lord of the Rings fun. We will be headed to Oxford to see a tonne of Tolkien sites.
From Oxford we will be headed north towards Nottingham and the Black Library Weekender. However before we experience all the goodness that is the Weekender we will visit Warwick castle.
Still not enough? Ever hear of Guy Fawkes? How about V for Vendetta or “Remember, Remember the 5th of November”? We will be headed back to London to experience one of England’s biggest outdoor commemorations. We will see fireworks all over London and maybe even an effigy burning or bonfire or two as we join in to remember the Gunpowder Plot of 1605.
