I was thinking of getting the digital IG codex once it comes out, but I am concerned about the price tag. I'm just wondering do they auto update with the new rule/faqs/and etc., and if it is for free or not? Because if they do I might get it.

The new faqs always go up on the sight, as for new rules and codex editions, i have a feeling they will still come out in issues of white dwarf, and you will have to buy new codex's when editions shift.

They don't auto update them, because iBooks doesn't appear to have that yet.

However, they do update them for free, you just need to delete the iBook and redownload it (not rebuy it, just redownload it). They did this with the 6th edition FAQ updates for the Space Marine book.
