I am going to be playing a pedro list as soon as i can get the models together.
I need some advice on how i should play the army, i know the basic tactics, i just want to know some things i can do to refine my play.

Go troop light and bring as many sternguard as possible.
It then really depends on how you've built your list, there are many ways you can bring sternguard.

I really like them in rhinos for a pedro list, where you use them virtually like an army based around tactical squads in rhinos. I guess this leads to your 'basic tactics'.
Try something like:
4 combimeltas+2heavy flamers, 6 combimeltas or 2meltas+4plain probably with a powersword.

Away from that drop pods are pretty awesome. You can be slightly more aggressive than the 'basic tactics' for drop pod armies as you alpha strike is mostly scoring.
8 combimeltas and 2 heavy flamers, probably a powersword.

I totally forgot to put up what i am probably taking.
my hq will be pedro obviously.
My troops will be two 5 man scout squads with snipers.
I will take 2 10 man squads of sterngaurd, all combi weapons, and each with a rhino
1 5 man squad with a heavy weapon and a rhino (pedro will ride with them)
2 las preds.

iirc that adds up to something like 300 or so points less then my target of 1500.

My basic strategy would be to use the las preds for tank hunting, with combi melta's on most of the sterngaurd just incase.
the snipers would hang back and shoot high value targets, while my sterngaurd in the rhino would charge out of the gate and hold objectives.

You need AA. Either get some storm talon gunships, or an aegis defense line with a quad gun. If you go with the defense line, give your scouts camo cloaks, buff them up to 10, and give them a ML. That will give you the needed AA, and some durability and killing power for your scouts. If you go gunship, go with the str 7 rocket (skyhammer, I think), and zoom around providing fire support for you sternguard.


As for tactics, you need to make sure your squads support each other, so keep them close enough to come over and save the other squad if they have to. Especially for Pedro.

I think i might pick up like 2 stormtalons, i think i can afford them. i'll do the math later today.
