-Let me get this straight - IF don't wanna be codex chapter (Dorn calles Guilliman a coward, citing his lack of participation in the defense of the Imperial Palace),few bum-bum's from the IN + wisdom from the pain glove and they are best codex chapter in the world, Dorn regrets his actions and in the end dies in a stupidest and noblest way ever...
- BT are not codex chapter and they trample codex in every way.....
Main question- Are they remorsing for their rebelion?
fill the gaps...please

The Wolves go for the throat. We go for the eyes. Then the tongue. Then the hands. Then the feet. Then we skin the crippled remains, and offer it up as an example to any still bearing witness. The wolves were warriors before they became soldiers. We were murderers first, last, and always."

Dorn relents after the navy fired on his vessels, no purpose will be served by dragging the Imperium into another civil war. So capitulates despite his opinions to save what remains of the imperium.
Of the imperial fists their were hardline elements who would never accept the changes.
The imperial fists were sent into the crucible of the Iron cage. A trial by fire, and these aggressive elements were thinned preparing the fists to become a chapter.
The level and cool headed marines become Crimson Fists, the Moderates by and large remain Imp Fists, the aggressive younger breathren become Black Templars.
The Black Templars under sigismund knowing the eyes of the imperium are on them, pledge themselves to the Crusade as a form of pennance and demonstration they will serve loyally.
Thus the crusades are continued with each new high marshall taking the vow.
So the Imp Fists and crimson fists are codex as they originated from the level headed marines disliking the codex but able to deal with it.
The Black templars originated from the rash and impulsive marines, those who were most vocal against the codex. And so ignored it, yet at the time the pledges of the Crusade and still having their numbers cut were a saving grace, since then the imperium for the most part has lost the means of checking the numbers. The Black Templars simply ignore the codex like they always have done.

Not quite:
Its the newer, least zealous member became the Crimson Fist. There cool headeness comes from there first Chapter master: Alexis Pollux.
Under his supervision and with the Order From Dorn, he shape the chapter in there interpretation of the chapter. Althought they were also a crusading chapter not aquiring until the 40th century.
The most Zealous and Agressive became the Black templar with Sigismund at there helm.
They swore an eternal crusade never resting until the emperor duties were complete.
The orbital assault specialist became the soul drinker, althought I think that has change and put into doubt.
The rest, the most loyal stayed imperial fist.

Coincidentally, the Imperial Fists of M41 are one of the most Codex-adherent Chapters there are, right next to the Ultramarines - says so in their Index Astartes article.
The Black Templars break with Codex protocol when it comes to their size and recruitment, but aside from the Imperium generally lacking the ability to truly keep close tabs on the numbers of its Space Marines, the Templars are also granted a bit of leeway due to their extreme display of loyalty with their ongoing crusade. Plus, Chapters engaged in a prolonged conflict are actually allowed to raise their recruitment numbers even as per the Codex Astartes, and with the Black Templars' eternal crusade that argument could be made for them.

I also do think there is the implication that the Black Templars contained those of the Fists that had embraced the worship of the God Emperor?
