Life isn't fair. But wouldn't it be worse if Life were fair, and all of the really terrible things that happen to us were because we deserved them?

yeah robot probes... yeah, yeah problems on Earth... yeah, yeah the Moon's a barren wasteland, but can you imagine just letting that experience die?

One of the better of our species--sad day.

Two lesser known moon stories always sticks with me--one is the 1202 error Armstrong encountered during landing;

http://njnnetwork.com/2009/07/1202-computer-error-almost-aborted-lunar-landing/

Imagine landing on the moon for the first time--and seeing a computer error--then being told your 2 mhz computer had to reboot to fix it--then seeing the error again..and again...

The other is actually a video;

That's Neil Armstrong ejecting a split second before his Lunar trainer crashed into the ground. This was less than a year before his mission to the moon.

You ever hear the story about the Navajo and the guys from Nasa?

One day, this old Navajo shepard saw some strange men in silver suits wandering the desert accompanied by government men. He sent his son to ask them what they were doing, and they told him 'We're preparing to go to the moon.' The old Navajo asked them if they could take a message to the moon from him. The guys from Nasa thought this was great, and broke out the recording gear. The old man said a few words in Navajo and was done. When they asked him and his son what he said, they wouldn't say. So they went to the reservation and started asking people. They'd play the message, each would laugh, and refuse to translate. Finally one man told them for $50 he'd tell them what the old man said. Desperate, the Nasa guys gave him the money, and he told them:

'Watch out for these guys, they'll steal your land.'
