How the hell do you drill a hole where the arms meet? I've ordered some 2mm magnets, are they too big/small?

How does everyone else do it? =]

when you say "where the arms meet" do you mean the shoulder where the arm is glued to the body?

if that is the case, glue the torso together, let dry. drill a small pilot hole then go in with a 2mm bit, the torso is hollow so if the fit of the magnet is not tight in the hole, make a little log of green stuff an poke it in so the magnet wont fall through.

then just glue the magnet in.

be sure to keep the polarity the same so you can swap arms across models.

Unless they're chaos, then you reverse the polarity with regards to every other model.

Get a 2mm drill bit, and ideally a pinvice. (without a pincive, put some tape around the end of the bit to be a handle and just do it with your fingers)
Carefully drill a 2mm hole into the torso and mount a magnet, then put a little blob of paint on the magnet and press the arm up against it while its wet. This leaves a corresponding mark on the arm piece for where you need to drill for the other magnet.
To ensure the polarity is right it can be handy to go through all the magnets putting a mark on the same side of each one. (to do this get them all stuck into a long line, mark the top one and put it to the bottom, it will only stick the same way around it was on the top so you wont get mixed up doing this, keep going untill the first one is back at the top)

A guide hole might not be neccesary for a 2mm hole, I use a 2mm bit as the guide for my 3mm bit (I'm using 3mm by 1.5mm magnets) without using anything smaller and its fine.

The stength of the magnet maybe borderline on a 2mm, I've used an N52 grade 2mm magent for an arm before and it holds, but you cant lift the model by the piece being magnetized, witht he 3mmy 1.5mm N40 magents i can.

I've got 3mm x 1mm magnets, are they too big? They're just about the same size as the flat area on the space marine shoulder. I'm only doing it on my Devastator Squad so I can just swap the weapons when I need to.

I've tried drilling but the hole isn't deep enough for them to sit flush against the plastic

And thanks @Hairysticks
