One Gunfex is a must but is 2 or 3 overkill? Is one and 3 Zoanthropes w/ WB,SC enough, or are 2 Gunfexes better? The other guestion is with the Dakkafex, the range is so short why is it so worth it? and If you only had two Carnifex models how would you arm them?

The dakkafex range isn't that bad. You get a full 24" once you figure in movement, which is the same as a stationary bolter, and you really shouldn't be getting into shooting contests with units that out range you anyway.

Plus, how can you argue with 8 S6 shots that reroll both hits and wounds?

18" range on the elite fexs guns is exactly 18"s farther than a CC fex can attack from!

1 VC/BS fex might be ok at 1500pts aslong as you have a tyrant with a VC aswell.

Generally you want atleast 2 MCs with VCs at 1500pts, it is a bit annoying the VC is not atleast ap3, as it is they are great against tanks yet do nothing against the average meq.

Then again if you leave them out your screwed against tanks!

I don't know what is optimal, I myself run 2 VC/BS fexs, 3 Zoans with warp blast AND a tyrant with VC all at 1500pts, I must! be paranoid. But they sure are nice when you come up against mech eldar/tau/de/speedfreaks/armoured company...

More often than not though I have more guns than there are targets out there.

As for warp blasts, once you have 2 VCs then you can start thinking of warp blasts, due to their low range they won't be geting in range of enemy tanks unless the tank is stunned first or your opponent wants them in range.

I'd say TL Devourers, which end up being 2 TL half-ranged Hvy Bolters with rerolls to wounds, pretty nice. Though not having the range or the pie plate template, they're much more accurate, as well ending up deadlier Vs light Skimmers (Speeders, Vypers and Piranhas), out of virtue of rolling so many shots.

However, Vs Falcons, Devilfishes and Hammerheads, TL Deathspitters are better, as these stands a chance at glancing said heavy skimmers.

I went with TL devs though since I am running a choir army I am starting to quistion this.

BS is a blast S5 weapon so is actually not bad against open topped av10 either, if such things are on the table the tyrant is what is going to take them out while the fexs go after the higher AV targets.

You have 3 decent choices really:

DS for an additional S7 blast, is ok against normal armour and quite good vs av10 but do you really need more than the 3 S8 shots?

BS is nice against troops and av10, best range here and also causes pinning which is nice if you run a choir.

Dev is the most powerful anti-infantry weapon and also the best against weak armour at close range.

I myself went with the devs but am starting to think the BS might be nicer, VC+devs also looks the coolest imo, I went with the devs sideways for a more "gangsta" look on my tyrant.

I think unless you REALLY want to specialize the tyrant to just antitank your real choices are between the Barbed Strangler or the Devourers.

Hard to say which is better though.
