Death-Dealing Devastator
Wherever the Emperor commands.

So dark souls is out for the PC now.
i have been reading a lot about it and i am considering getting it.
But i was wondering, aside from the new bosses/gear/ect. what are some of the major differences between the console and the PC? (also if you prefer PC/Console/both)
I do have a gamepad i can use for it as i think that was one major problem with the port (was not designed to use with keyboard and mouse)
also, are any of the classes Noob friendly for first play through, or is your success mostly based on skill?
(and yes i know it is a REALLY hard game, that one of the reasons i want it)

Gameplay glitches mostly from what I understand and yes the souls series was designed with console in mind not PC's so a controller would help. I can't even imagine playing it on keyboard/mouse. The game is skill based. Any class will work from the get go. best tip's I can give are these. 1. Start with the master key. will save you time/headache guaranteed. 2. observe any new enemy. attack's have fairly obvious telegraphing more the most part. 3. think about the build you want before levelling up. 4. Stay hollow to avoid invaders. Go human for boss fight's 5. Sun-bros are a godsend. +1 internet's if you understand this.

One thing that I learned that made the difference from pulling my hair out compared to wow this is easy was...
shield.
Choose 100% phsyical block.
And increase your endurance alittle.
Then everything is easy. For the 60% of the game all I could do is dodge, that was HARD -_-

They have released a tweak to allow for better rez, as the current rez is capped and also the framerate is capped.
A controller is a must as well.
I never played the ps3 version so I really cant compare.

Battlewagon Driver with Charged Engine
somewhere in the northern side of the beachball

So the game has capped fps, capped resolution with a hack that remedies this but it crashes, bad performance and GFWL.
I guess this game goes to the how-not-port-games -list.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.
If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in. |

I have to say that while I love the concept they really need to fix alot of stuff. It is easily one of the worst ports I have ever played. Keyboard and mouse? Forget it. You want 1440x900 res??Forget it. You want more than 30 fps? Forget it.
I resisted buyin it on console coz i wanted a better experience on the pc.... that hasnt happened...
It may take me a while to actually be bothered to play it again its that bad. Really with i didn't spend £30 on it now.

I have mine @ 1920 x 1080 at 40-50 fps and its pretty good now , no crashes. i used the durante patch .03 you must turn the ingame aa and blur off for the text to work. Then in the nvidia settings turn the vsync on and it unlocks the fps issue. Use the 360 pad and its almost normal. If I can just stop dying at the same part for the 50th time I will be ok. The game is still strange though, not sure I get it yet, might have to google some tips or a faq.

Absolutely excellent experience here, because I actually have a gamepad and downloaded the Durante fix.

Oh Iv got got the patach and an Xbox controller so I can workaround the issues easily enough.
While I havnt played much of it Its still the worst port iv seen. Hopefully the gameplay can make up for it.

Every class can essentially end up the same, you just start out with different gears and different stats.
Which ever stats you decide to add on later will flesh out your character to your preference.
Everything about making the game easier is knowing the fights, and knowing your speed and slashes.
You should figure out which weapon are you most comfortable with, know the swing arc, the swing speed, the swing distance,
and how much stamina it use up. Because once you use it up, you are vulnerable to everything even if you have perfect timing at dodging.
In Darksouls, gears and stats wont always save you, knowing the fight is 500% more efficient. ( PM me or ask here if you ever get stuck )

Ok got a question Luna, in the first town right before you face the bull demon, if you go down the stairwell there is a crazy strong knight how do you/ can you beat him. I lvl'd up like 10 times in the city but the thing is a badmofo and throttles me every time.

That's a Black Knight, you beat them by being well geared and levelled and healing a lot, or by being really good with dodges/parrying and ripostes.
That or roll Pyromancer and use all eight fireballs on him.

Kill the pesky skeletons around him, lure him into the tower that isnt that far.
Circle him and backstab him till he dies ( might want to use dagger if you have one )
Or you can ignore him till you have better weapons and +% magic find ring. Its nice having Black Knight weapons from beginning of game,
instead of getting them at last boss level -_-
Personally my favorite weapon is black knight halberd ( might want to wiki the required stats for wielding that )
everything is easy mode with it xD

Axe or Greatsword is a bit better IMO, just for the better scaling off of strength, which needs to be high for any BK weapon anyway.

I do agree them hitting way harder ( i also use the axe for bosses )
But I use halberd because the range of the swing arc, I can dispatch mobs at a time without getting damage in return :3

All depends on the build anyway.
Strength - Black Knight weapon
Dex - Probably a Katana of some flavor or Pricilla's Dagger, depending on what the scaling gets you
Int - Moonlight Greatsword all the way
Faith - Probably Astora's -> something crafted -> Grant eventually, at least that's what I did.
