I dislike this sort of thing, it asks a lot of others when you could do some leg work looking for prewritten lists.

Nob bikers are awesome, and are cheap $ per point.
Flyers are all right, I expect them to fail in a few months time.

Troops: either go for trukk boys, they are cool but not forgiving.
battlewagons full of boys works well.
Otherwise wazdakka and bikes is lovely.
Foot slogging boyz with kff works reasonable well.

Other stuff:It has to be gunline. Lootas, kannons(remember ammo runts and crwe and runtherd) behind an ADL, quadgun+grots.
Rocket buggies with the battlewagons.

Write your own list, it is quick easy but also personal.

It was more intended as a solicitation of opinions on whether a truly competitive list could not include Nob bikes or multiple flyers.

I had a competitive 1200pt list without either. It used a battlewagon, deffkoptas and trukks

Depends what you mean as competitive. I do not foresee orks to start winning lots of tournaments any time soon. Moreover they are about where they were before, able to give a few good bloody noses to the more competitive armies.
Anyway how about the following. I feel they are very reasonable, they need some tweaking, like they are over the point limit.
