Hallo i play as CSM and i just started playing , the thing is i dont know how to make a good 1000-1500 points army .
My army is :

Two 10 man squads of chaos space marines

1.squad : one sergeant with power sword and pistolbolter
one banner-guy with pistol bolter
one heavy bolter
three chainsword guys with pistol bolter
four bolter guys
(this squad is often given MoT or MoN because of the initiative or the 1+ thougness)

2 squad: seargent is given power sword and pistolbolter
the rest is un painted and un assembley so i really need tips

Then i have 12 bezerkers

1 skull champion and the rest is just ordinary clean bezerkers

Then i have a chaos terminator lord with lightning claw and twin linkd bolter

I dont know what mark to give him so woulde be a huge plus for me to get some help with that.

Welcome to DakkaDakka. I'm a new player (CSM) too, so I'm also interested to see what folks have to say.

That's a tough model list to make anything out of. You're strong in Troop choices, but strongly lacking in Heavy Support.

2 Daemon Princes with Wings, Mark of Slaanesh, Lash of Submission - 310 points

10 Khorne Berserkers, Skull Champion w/Power Fist, in Rhino - 285 points

10 Chaos Space Marines, Aspiring Champion with Power Sword, 2x Plasmaguns, Icon of Chaos Glory, in Rhino - 255

10 Chaos Space Marines, Aspiring Champion with Power Sword, 2x Plasmaguns, Icon of Chaos Glory, in Rhino - 255

2x Obliterators

2x Obliterators

Total = 1405 points

This list would require you to purchase 2 Daemon Princes, 3 Rhinos, 1 Plasmagun pack, and 4 Obliterators. It also has 95 points left over, so you could drop 55 points worth of wargear (Aspiring champions w/Power Swords) and add another Squad of 2 Oblits.

Conversely, if you want to do something around 1000 points, you just drop both the Oblit Squads, both Aspiring Champions, and drop the Icon of Chaos Glory and Rhino from the second CSM Squad. That would put you at exactly 1000 points. Most people play 1500, so I think you're probably going to need to invest a little more.

I'm sure you'd like to use the Terminator Lord, but I just don't think he will hold up or win back his points like a Daemon Prince will.

Just my 2ยข - Hope it helps

Firstly welcome to warhammer and welcome to Chaos.
I ve noticed that you write down who has bolter, who has chainsword and pistol.
No. No need to do that cause Csm have the advantage of having all three piece of gear bought already in their points cost.
They have bolter, chainsword and bolt pistol.
Also MoT gives invulnerable save and not In boost, that's what MoS gives.
I personally dislike H.bolters on CSM squads so probably i would say depending on what you want them to do, go for other specials
and prefer take 2 same weapons. I ve not managed to choose if i prefer p.weapon than p.fist. I would say go for P.fist for now.
if you are to take MoN on squad 1 i advise you to go for plague marines for some higher cost you have better tough unit with better stats than simply a +1 T.
Berzerkers should be done easily with a skull champ with p.fist.
Also i would advise you to go for rhinos for your squads. CSM as other marines are better when moving faster and with the cover of a rhino.
The Chaos termie lord is good but you still if you take rhino wont have a transport for him as he cant fir in rhinos.
I would strongly advise you not to buy anything new till the new codex comes out.
Some things are going to change. Many things i would say.
And it would be bad if you buy things that will change in few days.
So patience and consider the things i told you.
Regards!

I am also looking at starting a CSM army so this post is helpful to me as well. I was looking to start with dark vengance once that comes out and pick up the CSM battle force since it is way cheaper at my FLGS then retail at the moment. For you Veteran CSM players, what would you reccomend for us new to csm players?

^ I'd recommend that you find a warband or Legion playstyle that you enjoy and try to stick with it because it will be very rewarding and challenging to hold onto one style of play..

..unless you have a huge army where you can change units out at any time.

Just focus on Painting and Modelling for the next week or so. The new codex is rumored to be released for advanced order this saturday.

Hi all,
I'm also a new chaos player and thx for this post I'm waiting for the codex to buy new models as many of you experienced players advised. But I have a gift ticket from my local hobby store and I have to spend it in 2 weeks. I can buy a terminator squad, a 2nd daemon prince or another rhino. Which one do you think is likely going to stay as valuable as it is right now?

I like running Daemon Princes in pairs. They've always worked well for me.

If you don't have Terminators at all it might be nice to have access to them. They are very popular right now.

The one caveat is a second Daemon Prince can find a place in any list.....Terminators, not so much.

Terminator's loadout is very tricky. At the moment, combi-spam seems to be the best, but that could all change. It would be a shame to waste 5 termies because you built them wrong. Besides, alot of the time, terminators aren't used beyond termi-cide.

As Mizzri said, Daemon Princes are great in pairs. Which means, if you buy one, you have to commit to buying the other to make it work.

You troops are always going to need transport, and you'll more than likely end up buying a rhino somewhere down the line. I think this would be the most reasonable purchase, with the DP being second. But as always, it's your call
