Subject: KR Multicases - Viable option for Aussies?

Hey all,
I know there's a lot of threads pertaining to 'which miniature carry case/bag/etc is good?" floating about on Dakka Dakka, but regardless it seems like KR Multicase is a good option as far as quality goes for miniature storage, so there's no real disputing that. But Im looking for investing in some carry cases for my miniatures, and I only have the one standard GW carry-case. While it's okay, the price for them here in Australia is pretty meh, and they're rather bulky for the amount of minis they can hold (which doesnt appear to be that much).
What I want to know, specifically, is if KR Multicases is a good option for those of us living down under? Been on the website and supposedly it's free delivery and the cost of shipping is already factored into the price of the cases/foam trays, and given the price, it seems reasonable, especially compared to what GW offers, and with Battlefoam I would have to pay through the nose for shipping I believe.
So are there any thoughts from any Aussies (or New Zealanders) on Dakka Dakka willing to enlighten me?
Cheers.
EDIT: I will say their website is a bit of a pain to navigate through, but I think Im beginning to understand the way their foam tray systems work in conjunction with their carry cases/bags. Seems pretty neat.

KR is always worth it - where ever you live.
As for the website, it is a pain. The best advice is to get the pluck trays to start with and use them as a guide. Also take note that if you ask them to recommend trays they will suggest a lot more trays than you actually need - in my experience.

The shipping is factured in the cost if shipping to the UK. When I bought mine, the price went up ten pound for the shipping to Sweden. So you won't see the final price until you've put the item in your basket and specified delivery adress.

Several of my mates have KR cases for their 40k stuff.
One keeps his entire BA army (5000 or so points) in a KR case and many of the infantry models are metals still (characters and specialists - line troopers are mostly plastics).
They do the job and often ship free to Oz.

Well I just recently bought the Shield bag from battefoam, and it easily fits in 2500 points of SM with full vehicles. It was $100 or so including shipping which isn't too bad and includes foam as well. It's also something that you can walk around public with without the strange looks IMHO BF supplies the best quality foam, and they have good warrenty's as well! Couldn't recommend this bag enough, and it also fits the GW foam trays if you want to put yours in there for whatever reason that may be.

Tell us what you want protecting and get specific help from someone who knows KR's stock. The company website is not very helpful, they have tools to help, but they are incomplete and buggy.
You only need describe infantry miniatures by size, not what they are. Though tell us type and numbers of each vehicle. Though make allowances for standard bearers characters on raised bases etc.

Thanks everyone. I guess investing in KR is an investment that requires a great deal of research, as I would need to properly document what type of minis I have, and how many, and then corroborate them with the foam trays KR have on offer.

Your first case will always require a lot of research. Not only because you want the best fit for your army, but you'll likely want to expand your collection even into other armies, and having a range of cases and trays that all fit together is a huge bonus. If you're considering Battlefoam but don't like the obscene shipping (I don't blame you), my FLGS, The Hall of Heroes, stocks and orders Battlefoam and ships Australia wide. You could drop them an email and ask about the range. I use a Battlefoam 1520XL with a range of laser cut and pluck foam trays for my Tyranids, and I wouldn't want to try anything else. But everyones opinion on foam is different.

I'm getting a DZC army deal, which comes with some KR foam trays (and the cardboard case, which I'll probably ditch). Will end up getting something more sturdy from it and possibly an extra tray or two - either from KR or BF or just Bunnings or something

I think you will find the card case suprising robust. I have a number of them (5) and the plan was to decant the trays into a aluminium one.
In the end I just don't bother and take the card cases every where. I even have one that I got given for free as it had a rip in the side, it's just as good as the rest of them.
I still cant figure their tray selector though and made a right balls up when buying a set of FoW trays. It was nothing that half and hour, a knife and a hot glue gun didn't resolve.

I have found them very helpful, I am in the process of moving house and needed a foam tray for a Thunderhawk.
Quick email confirmed that they will sell the tray seperetly meaning I can move it safely and then invest in their premium case at a later date.

I got my KR case a little later than expected when I ordered mine, I paid for first class postage and it was just over a week :S
But as for the case, it's a decent case, although I was a little annoyed when I made the short journey from my car to my FLGS, in the rain, light rain at that. The KR Logo's ink ran down the case, and the case started to get rough across the surfaces, so I primed it and sealed it a few times and it's done me great since, the trays are fantastic, £25 got me 100 GH'S, 16 WGT's a Vindicator and two razerbacks and the trays are of goo quality too.
If you ignore the postage aspect, it's great case to get, being down under, you hopefully get sun a lot and won't get the same problems I had, good luck

I hope you're talking about their cardboard-cases. I'd be worried if the aluminium cases started getting like that after a bit of rain

QFT. Though I'd recommend getting a Kaiser bag/backpack - it holds card cases plus books, dice etc. You'll only ever need one bag regardless of how many card cases you end up with (14 so far for me)

I went with a KR double in a backpack. Yet to be unhappy with the choice, although I expect I could easily spend another 100-200 dollars on optimized foam trays.

I've got a couple of the aluminum KR briefcases. They've been abused - dragged through the rain, dropped a few times from table height - and while they're not fully water resistant, I've got no cause for complaint.
Never had a model damaged when packed in them, unless I pulled them out and klutz me dropped them.

I actually have had a couple plastic models broken, but that's because I went 4 trays a box instead of three and it can get rather squishy in there, with over-sized banners and weapons pointing out in every direction (goddamn exarchs must be liberal arts students).

Sounds like human error rather than product error.
Why would you by a protective case then squash too many models/trays in it?
