It seems as if
GW is finally starting to listen to
WH40K players at last (Though I could be very, very wrong). It is rumoured that
WD is getting an overhaul that will make it seem less like one giant advert, and the recent
40k starter set, Dark Vengeance is not the uber-basic mindless factory print that
AOBR was. The new models are looking fantastic (Just look at those chosen marines!), and if you put recent price increases down as compensating for A) The new methods required to make finecast, B) Britain's current recession and C) Rebooting their entire range of models for more detailed versions (That's a lot of metal they've got to get rid of), then it seems just a bit more reasonable.
It seems possible that someone in
GW has decided to try a different tact with their sales... If only this could extend to a sale...
