Subject: Deathmarks 'Etheral interception' special rule...!?!

I tried to find some answers about that DM special rule but couldn't so my questions are:
-can i come from reserves in opponent turn (as rule was written) and still make a shot from my DM squad , or they just show up and probably add themselves
to enemy target priority chart
-lets assume that i can make a shot, do they have to target a unit that they came after or can I choose a different target

There is nothing that says the deathmarks can shoot on the enemy's turn, I believe that special rule is only so you can have your deathmarks deployed and ready for next turn. Use it wisely, and may be they will survive, or serve as a decent distraction* for one turn.

You cannot shoot if you choose to use the Ethereal Interception. It is a way for the Deathmarks to enter play without having to roll Reserves. However, it comes with the penalty that they could get shot to death if they do.

The other benefit is that they can move and assault on their turn as well.
If you look at the deep strike rules, everything says "in that turns assault phase" or "in that turns movement phase". And we all know turn=player turn.

I am afraid that You wrong Kev. Deep strike rules clearly says that -yes you can shoot or run in shooting phase and -no, you cannot assault after deep striking
But well, obviously necrons (especially DM) aint quite unit made for CC so problem solwed And 6th ed rules for snipers (yup, it do have rending NOW!!! ) makes that unit on gotta have it chart

Sniper weapons had rending in 5th ed as well. It still has Pinning. The only new benefit of Snipers is that a To Hit roll of 6 is a precision Shot.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

He wasn't wrong.
You can't assault on the (player) turn you arrive from deep strike. True.
But this whole thread is about the Etheral Interception rule, and Kev was talking about using it to arrive in the opponents turn allowing the unit to freely assault in their turn.

No worries. And ya, the deathmarks are hardly suited for assault, I recognize and agree with that, but it is still an added boon for coming in using that rule. Heh. Though if you have a MSS+WS lord and the despair-tek attached it would make for a decent assault. Just couldn't shoot the sniper weapons (I forgot they're rapid fire weapons, not assault *Sigh*).

Yup most folks have the right of it. 'Ethereal Interception' does not allow you to shoot when you deepstrike in, but it 'does' put you in a handy position to do so (or assault if you feel like it) on your following turn without having to deal with a pesky 'Reserves Roll'.

Ya, or if you happen to miss your mark on the deep strike then at least you can move on your turn to get closer and reposition models to protect the cryptek better (if there is one).

True that. I especially like running Zandrekh (who essentially gives everyone in your army with the deepstrike rule the equivilent to Ethereal Interception). I've had great fun bringing in deathmarks, wraiths, and a couple of necron planes all at once and all on the opponents turn; so they could do each their thing on mine for maximum carnage.
If you place your guys decently, you shouldn't have to worry about too much fire unless you scatter really badly.
