If you take a LR as a dedicated transport for terminators does it still use a Heavy Support slot?

Nope, you do not. One for Assault Termies, one for tactical termies. 2 per army

BT can take many more, and the most is probably BA who can take one for every troop, elite and fast slot, from memory.
