After my coworker gave me a good price on some extra Grey Knights, I realized that I had one extra terminator. I was kinda bored of painting stock models, so I decieded to make a Librarian from spare parts and sculpt some details onto him.

I don't see the model getting much play time. This is why I've chosen to go over the top with the rocky base. I may even add some ice to it for good measure. Let me know what you think of course

I wish, that would be delish. I destroyed some coaster cork from hobby lobby. The hardest part thus far was the librarian symbol on his coat of arms. Gonna add more ripples and creases to his robes once this layer dries. I'm also debating a cape or something to go on his back. Then theres the option to beef up the psychic hood and weapon and we're gravy lol.

Looking great so far. If your interested I did an almost identical project for a buddy of mine. I used the parts that had book icons to give it a more Librarian look and used alot of small chains and guitar wire for cables.

Hey HeavyBolter, I really like that conversion. Where did you get the chains out of interest? The model should be very nice painted up!

those are chains for model ship building. I believe they are 14 or 15 links per inch. I think you can get them on Scalehobbyist.com. I usually get them at my local Model Shop. Someday my buddy will paint it up, I think I'll be forced to create a new one before he ever paints it.

Heavybolter, May I just say that your sculpting skills are phenominal. Your model is very inspiring! Originally I was inspired by the GW Terminator Librarian but yours has alot of juicy detail! Got some updates, and a crazy mad-scientist idea for you to comment on.

I added a rope around his waist and also put a "base" for some back robes to go on. Still rough stuff.....

Also did some work on his head. Got another if I don't like this one.

And now for my crazy idea. Instead of painting the force weapon like Gw and my other Knights, I'm considering doing something along the lines of my picture below. I'll use more blues in the process, this example is more red because the models primary color was blue. Still, did a light glaze of blue to alter the hugh on this one. It's supposed to be some kind of star system.

Just another example of the Grey Knight force weapon scheme done by your's truely. I figured a comparison would be nice.

Thank you for the compliment, Still getting the hang of it but its getting there. I like the starry look to the blade. I wouldn't transition the color from the midtone blue to white though, it seems a bit too much of a start contrast shift. I would shift it to a sky blue before doing white. The head looks great. So does the rope. But I always find it hard to sculpt stuff like chains and ropes so I usually use the real thing. Like for a rope belt I would use a real piece of twine string. Just makes life easier. THe robe base seems a little on the thick side but if you go thin on the GS you shouldn't have a problem. Are you going to give him a standard above his head? Also break out those book bitz from the GK set, and slap them all over.

Dammit now I have to go shopping!
