Hello again Dakka,
Can anyone give me their opinion of the spraycraft Airbrush and compressor kit? Been looking around for a mid-range airbrush so i can get to grips with techniques without being put off entirely and believe i have a winner.
Cheers!

I've been airbrushing for around 3 years now and have never heard of 'Spraycraft'. Can you provide a link?
Gota say because I dont know who they are, I'm assuming its a rebranded cheap chinese made airbrush... I could be wrong though

Spraycraft is a China-built rebrand.
They are also sold under the brand names Temptu, SparMax, SimAir, TurboAir and probably a half a dozen other names which I can't think of off the top of my head.
The most common version is the Temptu one, and it is somewhat well regarded for spraying fake tans and makeup. Not familiar with it being used for models though, the only one I saw in use was doing body painting - and those paints are a bit different than what we use.

Thank you both, the brush can be seen here, http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004EIPWG6/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&seller=
It is a multi purpose kit but appears it will do the job and modelling/craft is listed under its uses (for whatever credibility it lends it )

My 2cents are that the airbrush itself is probably mediokre... nothing special, but will do what you need.
The compressor looks a bit poor, it' le be a diaphram compressor (meaning the output pressure pulses around the desired setting) and because it is rather small and i guess low powered, its probably only any good for operating a gravity fed airbrush or inflating baloons.
http://www.everythingairbrush.com/acatalog/Finespray.html
Theres a kit on here; Finespray Airbrush & Mini Piston Compressor Kit Ref: AB-AS18-A-XXX-KIT Price: £77.99 Including VAT at 20%
You get to pick which airbrush you want form a list, the compressor is stil tankless, but atleast has a piston in it. I would stil reccomend something with a tank on... scroll further down the list and see some options
Edit; I've bought 3 or 4 airbrushes over my years, and find this shop to be the most useful in the UK, plainly because any airbrush they sell, they also sell all the parts for so when you break it, its fixable. (The cheap ones tend to not be worth fixing cus the price of a whole brush is close to a new needle and nozzle set up)

You're welcome. I find myself posting on most of the airbrush topics here on dakka lately
I know how much background reading and research it can take to get your head around some of the airbrushers info. And really appreciated the help i got from people when starting out a few years ago. Would consider myself to be intermediate skill at it now after 3 years of painting all sorts. I even undertook an NVQ level2 course in Motor Vehicle body work to accompany the spraying hobby which taught me a lot of useful tips and tricks.
Originally I didnt get the airbrush for painting my mini's... I had actually ceased collectign some years before and when I took up the modeling hobby again I strarted to find the airbrush kit most useful! Plus I was already very comfortable using it and mixing my paints up from allt he fine art I've been doing.
If you need any help with airbrushing... just ask, I check back here on dakka most days, and theres quite a few others posting that seem to know what theyre talking about with the spraying gear too

That's a very kind offer, thank you!
I have a box of broken and poorly painted figures I got at a charity shop which shall be my test figures, particularly interested in OSL, but I realise it will be a long learning curve until I can do anything with an airbrush that is worthwhile. So don't be surprised to see some of my gallery images become my poorly painted failures .
