I will start with my premise. I want to utilize as much as possible the contents of 2 Dark Vengeance boxes and I want to use a Fortress of Redemption.
1 Librarian - (I know they suck right now but I am hoping the new codex will give them an intelligence boost) Change to Divinatiion.
Belial - TH/SS
Troops:
1 Tactical: Plasma Gun, Pllasma Cannon
1 Tactical: Plasma Gun, Plasma Cannon
1 Deathwing: Assault Cannon
1 Deathwing: Assault Cannon
Heavy:
1 Whirlwind
1 Whirlwind
1 Devastator: 4 Plasma Cannons ( If I can't afford them, perhaps missile launchers)
Fortress of Redemption: Krak Missiles, 4x Heavy Bolters.
So the thought is to form a defense based around the Fortress. Housing the 2 tacticals and the devastator with the whirlwinds behind the wings.
If I combat squad all 3, that allows for all 6 of the weapons to be manned rather than on auto-controlled fire. The whirlwinds can take the anti-cover rounds if facing an enemy with pain cover units (pathfinders, etc.) otherwise just take the damage rounds.
Belial and the Deathwing perform the reinforce or attack role in the army.
I can't use the 6 ravenwing unless we go up to 2000 points otherwise that would be nice to use to ensure the deathwing gets exactly where it is needed. I might use it as a change up by swapping out the devastators for them.

Yeah, its a nice plan. Stick to it.
In fact, I'd give the Dev's missile launchers.
The Librarian is not a must-have but I guess you want to field the model from the starter set.

I would avoid the devestator squad, they are way overcosted, and for the cost you could throw in something a lot better. The bikes swapped in for the devs is definitely a better use of your points.

Bikes are really expensive. If you said 3 typhoons I would agree.
You have the bikers anyway.
You have done well with poor materials. Wait for the new codex and then I am sure you will be happy.

Dropped the cash today. Got 2 DV and the Fortress. I just balked at buying the 2 whirlwinds... Jeez 60$ a pop for a not that effective vehicle. Ah well, will probably do it but that is disgusting.
Here is wishing GW priced things based on effectiveness... (20$ a pop would be a little less painful.

Well, I figured that on ebay, the units in the DV box can be gotten for a rather cheap prize. I think I'll go for it since I already have 6 RW Bikers and 20 robed DA Veterans.
