I haven't been able to find a single tutorial on painting vehicles with brushes. I have a dread and some other vehicles that I need to work on and no airbrush and no intention of getting one. Between some rhinos, dreads and immolators to paint on I also have one to a pair of titan weight class vehicles coming my way. Any tips to avoid the fethed up brush stroke look?

I beg of you sarge let me lead the charge when the battle lines are drawn
Lemme at least leave a good hoof beat they'll remember loud and long

For the base colours, thin coats, applied evenly. Many layers, each layer stroked across the previous (so up-down, then side-side). Expect at least 3-4 layers per colour before it starts looking nice.

To highlight panel centres, drybrush with a soft brush in a circular motion (like makeup blusher, but with an appropriate brush). VERY dry brush, more intermediate mixes of colour will make this smoother and more airbrush-looking.
