So my librarian and a Lord on a Thunderwolf were in a challenge.

They also both had Initiative 1 due to unwieldy weapons.

I had a full squad of 10 guys with my Librarian in that challenge so I got 2 re-rolls on to hit, to wound, or saving throws.

How does this work since all attacks are made simultaneously at I1, can I wait to see if my Librarian fails any saves to use the re-rolls?

Do I always let my opponent roll his attacks first so I can judge when to use my re-rolls?

Hmmm, interesting issue here.

From a Raw perspective you must roll your to hit, to wound, and saves all simultaniously.

So you roll your to hits, he rolls his to hits, you decide if you are going to burn a reroll or not. Then you both roll to wound, you then decide to reroll or not. Then you both roll saves and you decide to reroll or not.

Would this come under simultaneous events, where the player whose turn it is decides?

I thought that was to cover events which have equal priority but which don't happen concurrently. An example is which units shoot first during your shooting phase.

With the combat it is happening simultaneously so I would think Grey Templar nailed it.

well you cant go back and reroll hit rolls if you move on to wound rolls normally...etc

Technically what the OP has described has broken the game. It's like in 5th when you've moved 5 guys into an assault...then realise that one has to take a difficult assault, and roll a snake eyes.

Nos has it.

Pg 23 says the attacks are made simultaneously.
Pg 9 says that when both players have something to do at the same time. The player whose turn it is decides the order.

Now the question really is how far does that go? I would say the it goes through each subphase of the fight subphase (summary 429..) aka... Roll to hit, Roll to Wound, Saves.. etc

So you could make him roll first for each step to see what you want to do.

So:

1) On my turn I tell him to roll to hit, then I roll my to hits, then he rolls to wound, then I roll to wound etc?

Or

2) On my turn I tell him to roll everything first then I can roll everything?

Which way do you guys do it?

Personally I think I would go with #1. I think the "roll to hit" "roll to wound" "saves" are separate phases so each would be done simultaneously with each other.

But I think you have a good standing to do it either way.

The way we do it in our group, is when in a situation like that, the attacker does all his rolls first, then you take your saves. THEN its the defenders turn to do his rolls. So in our group, youd just have to decide which rolls you plan on saving for rerolls.
