I figure the background section would be the best place to ask this question: What is your army's background? Whether its a PDF, a renegade hive fleet, a new WAAAAGH, or whatever I would love to know.

My space marine/IG army is known as "The Lost." Travelling to the Ghost Stars, the ship was forced out of the warp by when the Geller field suddenly failed. Daemons flooded the bridge to snack upon the souls. The chapter fought bravely but many died before the ship could leave the warp. Severally weakened, it was decided to wait and see if the machine priests could fix the archaic device. The remaining marines scoured the ship removing any sign of chaos remaining. Coming across a small sector of forgotten humans, the ship halted to restock and repairs. As if the chaos gods willed it, a warp storm soon surrounded the sector trapping everyone within the sector. At low numbers and worried about possible corruption, the space marine captain did something arguably heretical. He called upon his marines to split between the three inhabited planets to seek out humans. Treated as gods upon descent, the marines taught the populace their ways in hope to refurbish their numbers while the warp storm raged.

5,000 years later the storms finally dissipate revealing a different sector. The sector's populace changed. Each action ritualized, each first son brought forth to see if he is worth of joining the God's Army. Each person believed their action serves the empire and is for the Emperor. The chapter's name was lost in the time and in battle against the occasional invasion. Leaving to join the endless battle is an army of IG trained by the marines and marines who are more than just brothers but saviors and the hope of their homes.

My Marines are the remnants of Astral Knights who were all but wiped out during the fight against the Necron World Engine, granted permission to rebuild the chapter with the help of Marneus Calgar.

It is said that the Emperor himself shed a tear upon hearing of the Astral knights bravery and refusal to disappear from the annals of the Imperium. Hence, they are called Astral Knights no more but "Tears of the Emperor".

My army is an Ultramarine interception force.

It consists mostly of fast units that rush to meet foes in early skirmishes so as to try to stop a larger surge before it starts whether it be filthy Xenos or traitorous Chaos forces.

Fort Campbell

Night's Justice are an old chapter of one of the earlier foundings, their parent legion no longer known though it is suspected to have originated from the Dark Angels or the Ultramarines, either way their original ties have long been lost. Based in the galactic south (Segmentum Pacificus), they oversaw several star systems for recruitment purposes.

In the 38th Millenium seventy percent of the companies strength was dispatched to aid a crusade against a growing Waagh. After a decade of combat the crusade was ultimately succesful but the Chapters forces were nearly wiped out to the man.

The remaining forces at their home system were beginning a massive recruitment drive to replenish the ranks when a renegade chapter that they had fought in the past took the oppurtunity for revenge and launched a full scale invasion. With PDF forces being overran and the majority of Astartes forces left to fight being members of the 10th company a call was sent to the Imperium for aid.

The Imperium on receiving the request for aid, and examining the stategic situation, decided that the amount of resources needed to save the Chapter would not be worth the expenditure and decided to write the Chapter off.

With all seemingly lost and Eldar fleet arrived in system and proceeded to attack the renegade fleet and drive them into retreat. Ground forces soon landed crushing the remaining traitor marines.

The remaining leadership of Night's Justice confounded by the turn of events prepared to meet their end at the arrival of the Xeno's, but were soon even more amazed when a Farseer contacted them requesting a meeting to discuss the future. Warily they agreed to it, seeing nothing to lose, but hoping to gain a few more hours for Imperial reinforcements that they did not know were not coming.

Meeting on open ground the Farseer proceeded to explain that they had come from a smaller Craftworld named Eth-Kariel. Their seers had long explored the potential paths of the future and the brightest ones all began with forming an alliance with these humans who have been betrayed and cut off from the Imperium. While they did not relish the idea, they understood that a Craftworld of their size could not survive the tribulations to come, and building in roads with a race, who may be primitive, but were as powerful as the humans could be, would strengthen their chances of survival.

The Chapters remaining leadership, a single Captain from the 9th Company, and two junior Librarians chafed at the thought of what was presented to them but agreed to retire and contemplate on it. The Captain ordered the Librarians to use their powers to best try to understand the Eldar motives, as well as reach out for any indication Imperium support was indeed on it's way, for he did understand that as hostile as the galaxy was they would not survive without support.

The next day the Librarians met with the Captain and informed him what little their powers allowed them to find. As far as they could tell the Farseer seemed sincere in his offer, though truly understanding the minds of such xenos they admitted was beyond their abilities. As for arriving Imperial reinforcements, they could detect no eddies or other signs within the warp indicating anything inbound, but again they were not truly trained to explore such things with any reliability. After speaking with them about their options, the Captain returned to meet the Farseer.

As if bargaining from a position of power he agreed to allow the Eldar free roam of their space and even settlement of a planet under their watch, as long as they provided support and protection while the Chapter rebuilt it's strength. The Farseer understanding the bridge just gulfed between two such prideful powers agreed to the terms.

Eventually centuries passed, trust was truly slow to build between the two powers, but build it did. Working together the two combined their greatests strengths to build a secret power that could withstand all but the most concentrated forces. Over the last two millenium the Chapter has rebuilt its forces and has since thrown off many of the teachings of the Codex Astartes, including that of Chapter Organization. On top of that the Eldar have provided stolen copies of Mechanicus technology allowing the Chapter to eventually rebuild much of their fleet and armored capabilities that being cut off from the Imperium had cost them.

Today the Chapter works secretly throughout the galaxy, often guided by Eth Karial's Farseers. They will arrive on battlefields often appearing as loyal servants of the Imperium, other times they will show up as a vengeful enemy, dependant on the greater needs of the combined community. Using the size of the Imperium against them they've managed to continue using these tactics remaining in strength but obscurity.

So basically, I tried to generate a story that allowed me to easily justify combatting all sides in games, be they Imperial forces, Chaos, or Xeno's. I also like having my two forces work together to help each other overcome the biggest negatives of the games universe, stagnation.

Schrott

The 91st Schrott Experimental Regiment is an Imperial Guard Regiment that is backed by the Adeptus Mechanicus and allowed to field highly experiemental weapons or salvage weapons and vehicales.

The planet Schrott was and still is a massive Vault containing uncountable prototypes and designs for experimental weapons that were discarded or sequestered away for various reasons. Initially it was a peaceful place with scattered forests and other wildlife. Until the 1,000 year war when every faction minus the Necrons and Tyranids attacked Schrott for each thier own reasons. The war saw millions of tons of vehicales and equipment used by all sides until the entire planet was covered in hundreds of meters of scrap metal and fallen war machines. Gigantic war ships crashing to the planet from the combat in the skies only added to the sheer tonnage left upon the planet. Eventually the Imperium won but the planet had been scarred beyond reconigtion. The entire planet had become a huge scrap yard covered in the remains of the war machines that fought there. It earned its name from this blight, Schrott which means mearly "Scrap" in the native language of those who managed to survive the battle. The Mechanicus Vault had been opened in the later stages of the conflict and hundreds of experimental weapons emerged to fight against the enemy, many of which were lost amoung the scrap piles that rose up on the land.

Many years later the citizens with help from the mechanicus rebuilt civilization upon Schrott. Classified now as a Death World due to the harsh climate and environment that has evolved from the planets state. The Water is full of heavy metals, the rain is acidic, massive dust storms can rend flesh from bone in seconds, and powerful gamma storms can vaporize a man with its unending blasts of searing lightning. Life is harsh but the poeple on Schrott are tough and very resourceful.

The style is based on the post apoc style movies and games. Like RAGE, Twisted Metal, Mad Max and others. Transportation across the planet is again, a combo of those mentioned. one of the traditions upon Schrott is that at age 17 must build their own vehicale, which leads to many unique machines.

The army is very armor heavy with each and every tank or machine having a name of its own and some sort of modification or experimental weapon, Others are Salvaged machines that have been captured, refurbished or built from peices parts. It still includes plenty of troops however

Now. Further digging in the Vault has located a series of Power Frames. Powered suits of armor that are equivilent to the Space Marine Power Armor. a Sub Division has been created to study these and deploy them in combat. Dubbed Section 9 they fight under the command of the 91st using these Power Frames, They are only used by the most highly trained and experienced troops the 91st has to offer. (Space Marine Allies)

Blog for additional fluff and more machines.
