Hey guys.

Our national FAQ team (for purposes of the SA annual nationals tournament) have just ruled that fliers can move ONLY 18" or ONLY 36".

Nowhere in between.

The reasoning for this is because:

" What made us look at this was the immobilise rule. If you are immobilised at cruise speed well then just go 19", doesn't make sense. Some people have said then you are locked at your speed so if you moved 24" then that's your move. Rules don't say that, but they do say the speeds are OF and not UP TO, hence our ruling"

Thoughts and counter evidence if you believe so?
Thanks in advance.

This means you have the option of moving up to those speeds (with the specific exception of not being able to move less than 18").

Yep must move 18 may move up to 36. With the exception of the minimum it works just like normal vehicles.

Heya! I saw that Nationals were doing this, it's a pity. I know where they are coming from, the entry in Fliers suggests and either - or situation, but I don't agree with it though.

Look at the index and summery rules for the book, at movement speeds. Note the movement speeds for the Flier. 18" - 36".

Additionally, look at the Necron FAQ in regards to Invasion Beams:

If the Night Scythe moves more than 24" in the same turn, disembarking units can only snap fire

That would make absolutely no sense if fliers could only move exactly 18", or exactly 36".

It seems clearly RaI that fliers can move any distance between 18" and 36".

Yeah, Kharrack,

I posted this in the 3 biggest international forums, and everyone's in consensus generally. Cant understand why they're not changing.

If the people on the rules sites heard what they were doing with destroyed vehicles and charging our national event would be a laughing stock <_<

Seconded! I'd like a chuckle.

Star Trek taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female...
