I wanted to add some AA to my FJ list. I wanted mobile AA so I can use it to thin out the Russian Infantry if needed as well.
I cannot find a FlaK38 Portee to buy so I assume you will need to buy...
GE421 Krupp Kfz 70 and then GE543 FJ FlaK38.
My Q is will the Base fit in the back of that truck with no modifications? It looks like a base will fit nicely. I just dont want to sink the cash and find out its more work than I bargained for.
Hi .
Have alook on the Battlefront web site .Under Flames of War -Modeling -Tom's Luftwaffe Felddivision.
As there are some pictures of made up Flak 38 portees .
Not sure what trucks were used , but the pictures paint a thousand words..
I used a Kfz 70 and put a piece of plastic over the seats to make the bed flat. I then magnetized the gun, the truck and the gun base. So, I can just pop the gun off the base and put it on the truck and it even swivels around.
Here are some scanned photos from "Arms&Armour : Encyclopedia of German Tanks of WWII" from pages 207-208. Showing a 2cm Flak30 in a Horch Kfz15 car and a 2cm Flak 38 on a Krupp Kfz 70 truck.
I have added pics of two of my own primered Krupp trucks with the 2cm Flak 38 in portee for my Grenadiers. The blister pack numbers are GE420" Krupp Kfz 70 trucks" and GE 542 "2cm Flak 38 guns" or GE543 "2cm Flak 38 guns (FJ) Fallschirmjagers".
You will need to do some cutting to the flak gun carriage for it to fit in the back of the Truck and maybe a few small pieces of plasticard make it stable.
Hope this helps some.
