My name is Katie. I'm 26 years old and I just started playing Warhammer. I got a decent start on my Ork army. I got the assault on black reach set along with 10 storm boyz, a pain boy, extra boyz, a weird boy, and 3 killa kans. I have been working really hard on getting a good list going. I've played 4 games and I keep losing... Badly I may add. I'm hoping this forum will help me make a list and learn the game a little better. I'm also very new to forums. So hopefully I don't make to many mistakes.

Welcome to Dakka, Katie.
There is a lot of help, especially for Orks, to be found in the 40k tactics threads.
Also, if you post a list in the army list section, plenty of people will help you design an effective list, as well as give tactical advice.
There are a lot of great, helpful people here.
Enjoy!

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Thank you all for the warm welcomes. I'll be sure to post up my army list as soon as I get it under 1500. I'm just a tad over. Hopefully I can figure out why they seem so weak.

I would say to go ahead and post he list as is.
Just make it clear that you are hoping to make a competitive 1500pt list.
The helpful people at Dakka will show you what you need change and usually offer advice on how to get the most out of it.

Ok I'll post it. I don't have all the models yet. I got a good portion and been substituting some other models so I can despise where to go from there. Right now my list is:
HQ:
1 warboss with power klaw
1 big mek with Kustom force field

Troops:
29 boyz with 1 nob with a power klaw
29 boyz with 1 nob with a power klaw

Elites:
4 nobs with a pain boy

Fast attack:
14 storm boyz with 1 nob with a power klaw
2 deffkoptas with twin linked rokkit launchas
2 deffkoptas no up grades

Heavy support:
2 killa kans with grotzookas
2 killa kans with grotzookas
2 killa kans with grotzookas
1 battle wagon with deff rolla and killkannon

I'm a little over 1500 I'm at 1545 but I don't know what I want to cut. I know I need to add some upgrades to my nobs, which means more cuts need to be made. I am looking for a list that can hold its own in a friendly match. I'm not looking for a tournament list. At least not yet.

grotzookas are great for killing space marines. they hurt.

I would drop some storm boyz to get more nobz.

maybe a few trukk would help?

looks like a fun list. I would stick with it and keep learning.

Yea. I was digging the grotzookas. They were a lot of fun against the imp gaurd army I played. Unfortunately it was just brought to my attention that I can't transport nobs with a killkannon on my battlewagon so, I'll be changing that around.

Nice list. Here are a few thoughts that may help:

First, make sure that you post it in he army list forum, as it will get a lot of attention(if you haven't already.)
Make the boyz shootas rather than sluggas. Shootas have always worked better for me.
Remember that if you take a battle wagon with your nobz, it cannot have the kill cannon(which is not that good anyway.)
Dethrollas are always lots of fun.
For fast attack, you may want to try squadrons of rokkit buggies. I have found that they out perform deffkoptas and are cheaper to boot.

I hope this helps.

Welcome!

With that said, I shall back away slowly and ominously and disappear in a puff of smoke, then smuggle some fruit across the border in order to stay competitive with the veggie cartel.
