Anyone know where I can find some mechanical tendrils or something similar? I'm making up a unique fig for a Heratek and wanted to give a higher tech, fluid look for the mechendrites. I was thinking about the new braided chain from GF9, but I have no experience on size or what it would actually look like. If anyone has any replacements they can think of, would much appreciate suggestions.

Couple of things I've used/seen used.
1) Guitar string. Various guages. Holds a bend well.
2a) Wire core with cylinder beads. Tiny ones.
2b) Wire core with 'ball' beads. Tiny ones.
All with plasticard 'ends' added to look like sockets / plugs / technical doodads...

Depending on what exact look you're after, perhaps some bits from the Dark Eldar Talos Pain / Cronos Parasite Engine kit would fit?
Other than that I can only parrot what winterdyne said, guitar string is my personal favourite.

you could use the green stuff tools.. I don't have the link handy, but they are worth looking for.. You can do anything from tentacles to rope with them..

Thanks for the replies so far guys.
What I'm looking for is something along these lines/shape/size:
http://www.creativeuncut.com/gallery-06/mgs4-laughing-octopus.html
Obviously, I doubt I'll find an exact match. But just to get a better idea for what I'm looking for.
Re: Johnno... I checked out the DE talos, but the parts are way too organic for what I'm hoping to achieve. Good suggestion though, I hadn't considered them.
Re: Winterdyne... any particular gauge that you'd suggest, given what I posted?
Re: Ruff... I'm honestly terrible with green stuff. My work always comes out looking like is suffers from bee allergies and got stung repeatedly.

While it isn't an exact match - look for snake chain. It looks the part better than some things like guitar string. I like to use brass myself (cheap and allows a fixing method which is handy).
In order to pose the chain, I will go through and take a foot long section or so at a time, smother it in flux and hit it with a torch to flow some soft solder between the links. It doesn't conceal the detail, but it allows you to bend it to specific poses as needed. Great for getting that "Doc Ock" look.
I generally pick mine up from a local supplier, but if you poke around enough - you should be able to find it easily enough online. Comes in several different cross sectional shapes too - so don't jump on the first one you find if you are looking for something specific.

Gauge? I dunno. I bought a pack of 6 brass strings for £2 a couple of years back. Still using them.

I use those, they work really well and are insanely easy to use, but they are a lot more uniform than something like the Talos/Cronos ones

Dragonforge makes power cables that might work. I haven't used them, but its something to look into.

First off, thank you all for the replies. They've been a tremendous help.
However I also came across the most obvious (so of course I never thought of them) bits, from the necron wraiths. Thank you again for the help and I'll see about getting some pics up once I have the mini mostly assembled.

Guitar strings eh? Hadn't thought of that... I am thinking of making some kind of mechanical-looking C'Tan for my Necrons, maybe that would look good.
