I am going to get the new starter set and I just do not know what to do with it. I play nilla marines and I thought the models would not be so detailed and I could just ignore the detail and kind of get around it all. But now that I have seen the detail on them I do not think I can ignore it.

I have about 1500 pts of marines in total but only 1000 for a competitive list. I do not really want to have allies especially with so little of my original army. I thought that I would buy the starter set, and then swap the chaos out and get more DA and this would give me a good big chunk of points for my army. But now I do not think I will do that. I also heard that I could swap starter set models for regular models from someone on Dakkadakka. But I am skeptical of that.

So what should I do dakka dakka. Should I just keep them and have a DA wing with my nilla marines, or do what I heard from someone on here that swapping them for nilla versions of the models with someone.

Just use the Dark Angels models as Codex Marines, paint them up and say your army is a combined force or something

Paint them any style you want and use them in your current army. They could could be the 'Sword Angel" unit or something.
