Tower of Power

We come on this situation in a recent game. In the end we decided that the Thunderwolves should consolidate, though not 100% sure if that was right. Here's the scenario:
Two units of Thunderwolves charge a Soul Grinder. At the end of the turn, the combat is still on going and all units are engaged.
A second Soul Grinder joins the party, and assaults one unit of Thunderwolves (as a single model). In combat the original Grinder is destroyed (so one Wolf unit is no longer engaged in combat), however the other Wolf unit takes a beating and only a single Thunderwolf remains, who takes a morale test and passes.
Now, because this is a multiple combat, should both Wolf units take morale tests, and then the unengaged Wolf then consolidate? Or does the unengaged Wolf unit just consolidate as no longer in combat?

Both units would make morale checks and then pile in at end of combat.

Well one unit wouldn't consolidate as it's locked in combat with the remaining Soul Grinder . But yes, thought as much the other would take morale and then either fall back or consolidate.

How can the other unit pile in, when it's not engaged with the second Soul Grinder?

Because it is one single, multiple combat.
