Just a question I had after reading over Necron fluff-
How do you think the Silent King looks/acts? He seems like he should be a much more important character than what's stated in fluff. I mean, he ruled over all necrons during the bio-transference, never did the great sleep, decided to free all necrons under his control, theoretically rules all "Triarch" units, has had a couple mentions in modern fluff (He was the overlord in charge of the infamous "Blood Angels/Necrons v Tyranids" incident), yet he has no model and not even a picture to go on.

Take the Overlord model, increase the size by an about 50%, add more jazz, and you've got a Silent King.
On a slightly OT note, besides Orikan, the Silent King was supposedly the first Milky Way being to discover the Tyranids, which led to his return to end the Great Sleep.
I dont think necrons really "rust" per-se, they kinda regenerate damage that isnt catastrophic. Yes, some are better maintained than others (warriors are poorly maintained, as befits their station)
I would say he looks like a fully decked out overlord, with everything under the sun for wargear.
He probably doesnt talk much for the shame of what he allowed to happen to his people

I don't remember where I found this but somebody made a model for him and stats so this is not my idea and if you made it please tell me so I can give you credit.
Though I think he would be for more apoc games.

Wargear:
-Sempiternal Weave
-Phase Shifter
-Warscythe with built in Staff of Light
-Phylactry
Special Rules:
-Independent Character
-Advanced Reanimation Protocols: Szarekh’s body is covered with tiny nano scarabs that can aid his self repair systems. Szarekh counts as having
a Resurrection Orb that only benefits him. In addition if Szarekh fails his Reanimation Protocols roll then do not remove the counter. You may
roll again at the start of the next player turn.
-Ever Living
-Phaeron
-Preferred Enemy: Tyranids
-Leader of the Triarch: Triarch Praetorian units may be taken as troops choices. For every 2 full strength Triarch Praetorian squads taken in
this manor a single Triarch Stalker may be taken as a troops choice as well (Note that the Triarch Stalker may not take objectives as it is a
vehicle).
-Tactical Analysis: Szarekh always analyses the enemy before a battle commences to work out weaknesses he can exploit. Successful invulnerable
saves caused by close combat attacks from Szarekh must be re-rolled.
-Knowledge from Old: Having not gone into stasis Szarekh has retained full knowledge of combat from the Wars of succession, War in Heaven and the
Great Necron Revolt. Necron units (not canoptek units) have +1 initiative as Szarekh re-installs some of the lost knowledge from that time
(Szarekh himself may not benefit from this ability as he already has the knowledge installed).
-Hatred of the C’Tan: Szarekh’s hatred of the C’Tan and everything he lost to stop them means he will do everything in his power to stop them
becoming whole again. No C’Tan unit may be taken in an army that contains Szarekh. In addition should the opponents army contain one or more
C’Tan units then Szarekh gains preferred enemy against the entire enemy army.
-Martial Intellect: The longer Szarekh is fighting a particular enemy the more he learns about the way that enemy fights. If Szarekh was in close
combat with the same enemy in the previous game turn then he becomes I 4 as he adapts to their combat style.
-Command Structure: If Szarekh dies then the command structure of the Necron army temporally fails. If Szarekh dies then each none-unique necron
unit(not canoptek units)in your army must take a morale test if it has lost 25% of models as casualities while they re-group under a new commander
Szarekh is a HQ choice for a Codex: Necrons army.
Szarekh may take a Catacomb Command Barge as a Dedicated Transport
{I used the body of the finecrap overlord, lychguard legs, head, arms and weapon and added a guass flayer to the end of the warscythe.}
I picture him acting like Bean from Ender's Game (Highly intelligent, slightly melancholic, doesn't deal with political bull-gaking). I also picture him looking like your typical Necron Lord (metal-bits, frayed cape, bladed staff with power core) but simply better built and sleeker ( fewer loopy/poky bits, more filled-out limbs, heavier armor, simple helm/mask, largely utilitarian appearance).
From a modelling point of view, I would fill in the mouth grill, so after it was painted, it would look like he has no mouth. Just to really convey the "silent" part of his title.

I wouldn't think that the Silent King would stoop to fighting battles on the scale Warhammer 40k is fought at
Seriously, I don't get special characters. The average 40k battle is tiny, like a skirmish. Would you, for example, expect to see Julius Caesar fighting in a small skirmish of about 100 max soldiers against the Helvetians? Or Genghis Khan fighting with an army of 40 Mongol Horse Warriors against the Jin army of 100 Shanghai Spearmen? I wouldn't think so, yet we lower Marneus Calgar and Imotekh (who is supposedly the greatest grand strategist in the galaxy) to the level of fighting in small battles.
So yeah that's why I wouldn't expect to see the Silent King in a game of 40k. It would have been nice to have a picture of him but we don't so . . .
I'd personally love to see a Silent King model, I'm supprised considering the amount of attention he gets in the book there wasn't a model for him, then again we have forgeworld doing a Cron's book next so you never know, he could be in that.

Well, beside that special characters is one more model to sell and looks good in collections, one can always imagine that battle on the table is a small/critical part of large one.
As for mentioned historical figures... said Genghis Khan was wounded in battle at least twice and one of these wounds was inflicted by chinese arrow or throwing missile (ironically, Genkhis's other serious wound was proof of "only fools fight helmetless!" rule by archer who was spared due to his marksmanship and later became Khan's friend).

The thing with 40k is extrapolation. Really, when you play, the idea seems to be that you're fighting a portion of a cinematic battle. Because of limits to scale and table space, the action is distilled to small numbers of figures. This only affects the grunts, strangely, and not the Specials or vehicles and when viewed from a common sense point of view can look really stupi...er, odd.
Try playing a mechanized Eldar, Tau or Imperial Guard artillery force on a 4 x 8 table to really see what I mean. Looks like a right ridiculous cluster farg.
