I assumed as much. I just wondered if it created an exception since he would not in fact actually have the ironfist. I guess not.

Actually, he would still have the Ironfist. and would benifit from it against ranged attacks, but he would have to use the pistols in combat(special weapon)

Would he not retain his hand weapon? Then have a choice? Use the brace as a hw/ahw or the if/hw ? I dont have my book handy but I think the wording is "take" not "replace hand weapon"

Brb p.89.

You must use special weapons instead of hand weapon/shield (ironfist).

I may be wrong, but I thought you couldnt use xhw when mounted (savage orcs can, but it specifically states so in armybook), so buying the brace for mournfangs would, in combat, be unusable (due to being mounted) so by default they resort to shield?

I forgot about that. Then yes you are correct. You would use the ironfist at all times because you can't use the brace in combat. .

The way the rules read for brace of pistols in combat, is that the user will only benefit from the extra attack if he was on foot. Saying nothing about being mounted or not.

From what I understand; the brace of pistols would be used (special weapon), but no combat benefit is given as the user is mounted.

Savage Orcs only get the benefit if they are on a warboar, and not a wyvern. (but they can take the option if on a wyvern - just have to wait for it to die)

Yeah, just because you don't get the benifit doesn't mean you can not use it.
