I know it sounds pretty silly to have a question on something simple like that, but I actually have a pair of questions.

1. If I were to run allied orks with my chaos army, but used beastmen gors instead, would that not be valid? As they are lovely models, and fit way better than orks would.

2. If I have a horde of say 60 beastmen I'm using as slugga boys, would I have to give every single one a gun modelled on there somewhere?

I know it's more a matter of opinion, but what do you think?

Thanks

1. this would be 'counts as' and not WYSIWYG, so it would be legel rules wise

2. maybe not every single model, but 80-90% at least

If you do it as "counts as" you do not need the guns if they are all the same.

If you want to bring WFB models in, at least give a majority of them guns.

I do like this idea though.

Any ork player should be able to drown you in sluggas from their bitz box. Just ask one, I just gave away two dozen arms to a friend of mine for modeling chaos-spawns.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Trouble is, the guns are a little too big, so likely what I will do is buy various guns from third party producers, and also use an assortment of spare bolters, carbines and pistols from Anvil industries, a few ork weapons, Kroot rifles cut down into pistols, as I thought they were more appropriately sized.

Similar question for you to consider...

I'm getting the models together for a renegade chapter which has departed the imperium but not sided with chaos and following the army list/rules in the CSM book. I'm a fan of the plague marines but not of their models. If I paint up standard CSM (or even lightly converted normal marines) in green tones I presume this would be okay? The presedence is "The Cleeved" chapter in the CSM army book is nurgle because of the awesome paint job on the models and not the models them selves.

Also, the basic CSM has a bolter, bolt pistol and lots of grenades. I've not seen many models with these all on, is the WYSIWYG rule mainly for additionals beyond the basic equiment (say additional grenades, plasma pistols, assault weapons and son on)?

Paint jobs are not included in WYSIWYG.

Neither does WYSIWYG cover basic equipment. A bolter marine really just needs his bolter or some way of identifying that he is a normal dude. It is common knowledge that he has a bolt pistol, and all marines everywhere have Frag and Krak grenades.

WYSIWYG applies to upgrades mostly. Sergeants should be easily identified, if they have X upgrade it should be on there. If you have a Meltagun guy in your squad you should have a Meltagun guy, and can't have any other upgrades that would conflict. So a Tac squad can't have a Missile launcher, Meltagun, and Plasma gun. Which is there? the Plasma or the Melta?

Except they don't.

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

As long as your "plague marines" can be distinguished from the other marines, no one is forcing you to buy and use the official ones.
