On Windows:

For a local server, you use Command Prompt and type in 'ipconfig' to bring it up. Should be under IP4 or Default Gateway, I forget.

For an online server, this website tells you your web IP: http://findmyip.com/

What the title says, how do I find my ip address for a minecraft server?


I you know the server name then you can do a domain host search in IP-Details.com to find it's Ip address.
If you are the host of the server , and it hosted in internet,then your Public ip address is the address of the server.
If it is hosted in Local intranet(LAN),then the local ip address is the ip address of the server.

If any of the excellent advice that the below posters gives you an IP address that starts with "192.168"; post back here and we'll help you further, because you will need more assistance.
