What you want is a guide to space wolves. Cue guys and dolls suggesting their own blog entries.
The core for space wolves(yes, other nice choices but seriously):
Rune priests
Grey hunters
Longfangs
You can then bring other stuff. The main they lack is antiflyer, so I would try to include that in the other stuff.
Rune priest have the best(?) psychic defence in the game(ok second to Eldar). Their codex powers are pretty awesome, jaws in particular is deadly. Living lightning and chooser is a nice combo as well. The new rulebook psychic powers is also really special.
Now grey hunters let's suppose you want them in a rhino, good choice.
get 8 or so led by wolf guard. I would arm the grey hunter fairly well so banner, standard, mark of the wulfen, power fist/sword, melta, then the wolf guard is trickier due to challenges but I would go for sword and combimeltas.
Some will choose 10 in rhino and then go double plasma and double melta to be MEQ or tank hunters, these are harder to use units in many ways. Firstly leadership is lower, points are higher and sometimes forgotten but it is nice to always have space for a rune priest, just in case.
Long fangs are dirt cheap. 5 missile launchers and you will be doing fine.
Multiple of the above units will give you a really solid list, going away from them less so.
Anyway flyers. There isn't much you can do against them.
Give razorbacks to the longfangs, this gives TLlascannons which are a reasonable gun to shoot down flyers.
MAybe take the grey hunters as 5s in razorbacks for the same reason.
Also probably take an ADL to hide longfangs behinds as it also can give a quad gun to hit flyers.
Sure you can use some of the other units but they are fluffier and flavoursome options, even if they are competitive.
