Quick question, does fortune cast on a eldar unit, lead by an Archon allow the archon to reroll his 2++?

The reason I ask is the wording of both powers.

Shadow field says: A shadow field provides a 2+ invulnerable save, but if the save is ever failed, the field is destroyed altogether.

Fortune states: This unit re-rolls any failed saves it makes until the start of the next eldar turn.

Shadow field doesn't say anything about taking a wound, just failing a save, and fortune let's you reroll a failed save, it's not FNP, which says its makes it like it never happened. So the way it reads it's like, took a hit, got wounded, failed shadow field save (lost shadow field)' get to reroll save at archons normal save due to fortune.

Thoughts?

A rerolled save is treated exactly as if you'd never made the first roll. Otherwise, wounds would still be lost anyway, no matter the second roll.

As above. Youre also not the first to think that, however claiming that you lose shadowfield means you still lose the wound, which is an absurd position as it makes a reroll pointless in this instance.
