Looking at refining my list for a local 1500 point monthly tournament. Since CSM Daemon Princes have been officially FAQ'd as Jump, and Chaos Daemons using Daemonic Flight have been officially FAQ'd as Flying Monstrous Creatures, I've had to adjust my list. C&C welcome.

HQ:
Daemon Prince 155
Wings, Mark of Slaanesh, Lash of Submission

Heavy Support:
Obliterator 75

Obliterator 75

Chaos Defiler 170
TL-Lascannon, Extra CCW (replaces Heavy Flamer)

Troops:
Chaos Space Marines (10) 160
Missile Launcher

Plague Marines (7) 281
Plague Champion w/Power Fist, Plasmagun x2, Rhino w/Havoc Launcher

Allies:

HQ:
Bloodthirster (Warlord) 275
Blessing of the Blood God, Death Strike

Troops:
Pink Horrors of Tzeetch (5) 100
The Changeling upgrade, Gift one model with Bolt of Tzeentch

Heavy Support:
Daemon Prince 205
Daemonic Flight, Unholy Might, Mark of Khorne, Blessing of the Blood God, Daemonic Gaze

Total = 1496 points.

Bloodthirster will be preferred Daemonic Assault. Horrors with The Changeling, and the Heavy Support Daemon Prince will be the alternate group.

Deployment/Assignments:
Daemon Prince will be control, Lashing Troops out of cover, into assault range, clumping up for Templates, and Assaulting only when necessary.

Oblits will probably deploy in cover (Ruins) to Lascannon Armour unless the mission is "Big Guns Never Tire" at which point they will go into Reserve and deploy on Objectives instead.

Defiler will deploy in 25% cover (Ruins) and send ordnance and Lascannon shots towards weak/grouped armour/Troops.

Chaos Space Marines will deploy on a friendly objective and attack Rhinos/weak armour with ML shots.

Plague Marines will head towards primary objectives.

Bloodthirster will Vector Strike and Death Strike targets from the air, and charge into Assault when the moment is right.

Pink Horrors will Deep Strike near Troops or Armour and attack with Warpfire/Bolt of Tzeetch, relying on Glamour to hopefully defend them in opponent's turn.

Heavy Support Daemon Prince will Vector strike weak armour or Troops, and attack Troops with Daemonic Gaze, or charge into Assault.

The other option I drew up for this list was to run a Mark of Slaanesh Heavy Support Daemon Prince to give him Offensive/Defensive grenades and the Hit & Run USR. Any comments on that vs the Khorne Prince with Daemonic Gaze?

Comments and criticisms are welcome

I think the Warlord has to be the MoS demon prince

Defilers are best when taken in pairs, though this list has plenty of other distractions

I'd give the rhino to the CSMs, and keep the PM's foot slogging.

Thanks Brometheus.

I agree with the train of though that the Primary Detachment has to be the source of the Warlord, but I cannot find that in writing in the book. If anyone does, please post it for our mutual edification.

I don't have a second Defiler model, and I'm not sure where I would give up the points to buy one. Is one Defiler better than 2 Oblits?

I'm not worried about the CSM. They should be staying at max range to protect home objectives, whereas the Plague Marines will need to get those Plasmas into the fight. I do see your point, but I'm not sure it works with my play style. Hopefully I'll have time to play test this before the 15th.

I'm assuming they will be the 6 standard missions from the 6th Edition Rulebook. I know I'm lacking Fast Attack, but at 1500 points I'll take Heavy Support over Raptors any day.

Ah so you and I have different views on how to use PMs and CSMs. Interesting. I will consider testing some out in a game where I play PMs more offensively to take advantage of their resilience

Cheers pal

ADL and quad gun would be good. You have nothing to deal with air units, and the CSM's could hide and go to ground behind it (while PM's cannot) for a 2+ save.

You could also get Codex Daemons daemon princes and give them bolt of tzeentch, which they could also fire at other flyers.

Your total for the Bloodthirster is a bit off. With BotBG and Death Strike, it should total 295-ish (I don't have my books with me).

No, 275pts is right.

Main problem i have with the army is its size 28 models on the board even at 1500pts and not being one of those codex armies with specialist list like gk that eats up points... I see you plainly being over run. because as it stands your troops aren't going to be around long enough to hold any objectives and just at that theres half your army =/
possibly might want to reconsider the list again although I like what your getting at =)

Thanks Cheexsta. I knew it was there somewhere.

@Meade: Very good point about PMs not being able to go to ground. I honestly hadn't though of that.

Does a Flying MC with Bolt of Tzeetch hit another flyer at normal Ballistic Skill? Or would it be on 6's? I'm assuming 6's since they don't have the Skyfire USR.

Well, the list looks interesting. However, I'd give the CSM unit an autocannon and keep the Defiler's heavy flamer just in case some outflankers appear in your backfield (hello Genestealers).

Looks like I won't be using this list. The version 1.1 FAQ now lists Chaos Space Marines Daemon Princes as Flying Monstrous Creatures, so we are no longer forced to use Chaos Daemons to get FMCs.
